Okay, so I didn't realize this problem til my cousin texted me his new number, so I wanted to add it to his existing contact.

So I held the message with the unknown number and pressed "Add to Contacts" and it asked if I wanted to "Add number <#> to existing or new contact?" so I pressed "existing"

And when I go there I only see ONE contact which is the only contact I've added since I got this phone.

So then I try going to contaxt, open the menu and press "more" and then "Import/Export"

I've copied from Phone (Where I saw that single, new number) to Globe Telecom (Where I saw all my contacts), AND Globe Telecom to Phone.

But when I try to add my cousin's new number, once again, I still only see that one new contact!

I don't get it, where is my phone looking? where are my contacts /really/?

When I try going to Contacts>Menu>More>Display Options and switch to "Phone" I only see the one new contact. When I switch to "Sim", I see ALL of them, including the new contact.

Model is lenovo a269i

Welcome to Android Central! Phones can have a few different accounts where contacts are stored: (a) the "Phone account," which is the onboard storage, and is only stored locally (not synced with anything on the web), (b) the SIM card, which typically has very limited storage capacity--about 200 contacts, and (c) your Google account.

By far, the most useful place to store your contacts is your Google account. The contacts are automatically synced with your Google Contacts in the cloud, so that they are easily accessible from any device that's logged in to your Google account. If you lose your phone, or it becomes otherwise inaccessible, this also prevents you from losing all of your contact information.

In your situation, it sounds like most of your contacts are stored in the SIM card. Open your Contacts app, and select the Import/Export option again. This time, see if you can import contacts from the SIM--this should import those contacts into the Phone account. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to change a contact from the Phone account to your Google account--you'd have to export the contacts to a file, then import them into Google Contacts, as described here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ge...tting-started-android-2014-a.html#post3707512

The other thing to look for is an option in the Contacts app to display all contacts, and not just the ones from the Phone account.

My new Droid Turbo running 4.4.4 shows no app called "contacts" or anything similar. If I go into Phone, it shows my old contacts, but there's no "edit" or anything, and if you so much as breathe on the screen it calls one of them. A paper list of phone numbers sure is easier. I'll keep messing with it, but for some reason they clearly don't want users editing their contacts.

Okay, there's one problem. Some genius decided to rename CONTACTS as "People" and bury it with all the other apps.
