Where are you getting your Xoom?

Where will you buy your Xoom?

I want to mention that I hate Best Buy more than any other retail company out there. Don't get me started in the Nexus S launch. Oy.

i hate best buy too.... I did preorder there but I more then likely will purchase directly from Verizon, just waiting on my call from my VZW rep ;)

Haven't fully decided yet, so I just chose "Other" for now. Still waiting to see if there's going to be some sort of information come out shortly after it's release on a WiFi only model.

if they have it and really do waive the activation fee and 90 day return, then costco...otherwise gotta get my BBY rewards points!

I figured I would start calling Verizon Wireless stores in my area to see if I could get any more info (stock, presale, etc). I started with the closest and worked my way out...

Store 1:
She knew about it and told me there was no presale. She took my name, number and said she would call me when they go on sale. I asked if they had a lot of them and she said she didn't know.

Store 2:
This lady almost had no idea what I was even talking about. She finally said no presale and no idea how many they had. No list or anything.

Store 3:
This guy was very knowledgeable. He asked if I had played with one in person and I said no. He said they are really awesome. Asked how many I wanted and I said 2. Asked which data plan and setup an appointment for me at opening. He said he would call me tomorrow and setup the final details on it. I asked if I needed to show up extra early and he said no because I have an appointment. I will probably be there early anyway just to make sure.

So it seems like it's definitely best to call around. This has gotten me even more excited than before.

Yeah I'm going to walk over to the Verizon store that opens at 10 AM around 9/9:15, grab a cup of coffee and hope it'll be warm out!!

I honestly wanted to get it at Verizon, but the lack of warranty/insurance options (without maintaining the data plan every month), ruled that out for me.

Best Buy for me.

Here is my question for those who are thinking about buying it at a Verizon Store: what will you do about a warranty for the Xoom? As I understand it (and I could be wrong), Verizon will only provide warranties if you are on contract with them. Or are you not planning on getting a warranty?

No warranty for me. Never had one for any of my phones either. I like to live on the wild side.

BB since I returned my iPad to them for store credit. Should be enough.

best buy here.. I've got $150 in gift cards, might as well spend em. (a $50 GC, and then my $50 tbolt preorder.. also the $50 xoom preorder)

Just so you know for those that are worried about ordering yours through Verizon. If you are paying monthly then you are on contract even if it expires at the end of every month. So if anything happens to your xoom you should be covered. You may have to have current service, activate your service and then make the claim.. now this is technically cheating the system...

And I have one reserved at BB Costco and Verizon. I will try and pick mine up at Verizon. I look at it this way.. AT BB you are screwed all they way around trying to get your Xoom serviced if something happens with it unless you want to pay another 180$ for there service plan. at Costco you have 90 day return police but after that you have to return it to the manufacturer to replace or fix it. At Verizon you have 30 days to return it but you have a full year if anything goes wrong with it and you just take it into the store and have them fix it. So the year of just walking into a Verizon store wins out.

What i would like to make everyone think about is that...seeing as bestbuy's staff doesn't seem to be that bright..Has anyone thought that on Thursday that they could possibly sell the "Pre-Ordered Xoom's" .....food for thought ..

I am going to VZW to get mine but I am not cancelling mt bb preorder till tomorrow morning after I already have it. BTW my VZW rep stated they have the folio case in stock.

Yes I can easily see bb sales reps selling the preordered zoom tablets. My son and I spent the night outside bb when the wii first came out we got our tickets and stayedright there till we had our nintendo. The people behind us went to eatandthe sales rep sold the nintendos to people without tickets.

The costco I spoke with said that they were expecting about 36 xooms to be in stock.

That's awesome. The Costco in my area has a big pallet full of Galaxy tabs on the top shelf, above the wireless kiosk. What's cool is not everyone knows that they'll be at Costco (except us geeks) so they may not sell out so fast. I'm glad I already have a membership.

I think only us Geeks know about it all anywhere lol.

In terms of insurance plans, the big difference is that Verizon's has a $129 deductible, whereas Best Buy has no deductible. You can do what you said, by activating service for the sole purpose of the insurance (assuming they don't catch you), but the combination of that one month ($10) and the deductible already puts you $30 over the cost of the one year Best Buy insurance policy (the real one, not the standard one).
