Are you using stock email app?

Re: can't find where to add email account on galaxy 3 note,no option shown

I am trying to enable Onetel.com as a pop server but the prompt to manually set doesn't appear ,I don't get to be enable any account I go to settings 'accounts,email,add account,this is rejected by the server as non authenticated ,there is supposed to be an option to manually set in this event but it doesn't happen My knowledge is limited to not knowing very much so a simple explanation is what I would like .This is on a galaxy note 3

If you open the email client, then click in the top left corner on the three horizontal lines, then at the bottom click on Manage Accounts, then click on the email account in question, then at the bottom click on More Settings, then scroll to the bottom, there are two settings you can edit manually - incoming settings and outgoing settings. Edit to your liking then scroll to the bottom and click Done.

My problem is that after clicking the top left hand corner three lines ,this opens up Set up email ,give address password etc this shows server does not support authentication ,there is no Manage accounts anywhere.I have tried this many times

Sorry, I went and got my Note 3 out of a drawer, charged it up, turned on WiFi, followed the steps I posted, and it worked. Not sure what else to tell you.

Well, it was a deactivated phone in a drawer since I got my Note 5, so it was relevant for me - I didn't reactivate an old phone just to answer your question, if that's what you mean? I turned on WiFi, told it to set up a new email account, and it did.

Sorry to have given you an answer you seem to have taken the wrong way,my knowledge is very limited and I assumed that it was necessary to connect WiFi in order for my problem to work.It is clear now that it is not connected at all.If I knew what I was talking about I wouldn't be asking for help.

I misunderstood as well. OK let's try again. The WiFi really shouldn't matter in this case as long as you have a route from your device to the mail server in question. That may be Cellular, WiFi, Tethering. I personally don't have an email address with OneTel, I tried this with a Comcast and a Siteground-hosted domain and both worked - so it could very well be an issue with OneTel themselves. I did a little Google'ing and found that the incoming and outgoing mail server settings for OneTel are on different domains, which could be the issue. It looks like you use your email address as the username, but for the server settings:
Incoming = mail.onetel.com
Outgoing = smtp.onetel.net
At least they use standard ports (110 for POP, 143 for IMAP, 25 for SMTP).

If your email address is actually a onetel.net instead of a onetel.com then the settings are:
Incoming = pop.onetel.net
Outgoing = smtp.onetel.net
Again, standard ports so you shouldn't have to mess with those in any advanced settings subscreen.
