Where do you go to look at phone reviews?

MrMobile, TechOdyssey, Juan Bagnel...

Those who appreciate niche unconventional devices.

I stay away from the mainstream

Oh yeah, Mr. Mobile is good! And I like your point about those who appreciate unique devices. So true!

I also like Travis MCP if anyone watches him. He's pretty good. He does other videos besides reviews, well... Reviews of newer phones I guess. He does all kind of segments like on older devices that are available on Amazon Renewed. Good stuff.

Android Central, duh......

The problem I have with Android Central is they seem to be Google's love child. Even when a Pixel phone has an obvious issue they down play the issue. The Pixel 6 banner on each forum (which they don't list as an advertisement) shows a bias towards Google. I don't have a problem with Google phones I think the 6 Pro looks great. I would probably be using one right now if they had availability last month. Just AC's coverage is a little over the top. I could change my opinion if the forum banner changes to point to the S22 forums after the phone is released in a month.

LOL, have things changed in the past couple of years? One of the reasons I stopped reading the blog or listening to the podcast was that it seemed the editors would endlessly criticize Pixels (I remember Andrew Martonik constantly complaining about how "slow" the Pixel 3 camera was, which I never saw), and spend an undue amount of time extolling iOS.

Same here! I thought Samsung was the favourite.

That pretty much holds true for most of these review sites for all products. I remember as kid, all the car magazines rating various automobiles. My late father told me he read Consumer Reports for their reviews for their less biased reviews and ratings. Like most of the news and media, I'll read 3+ articles for the right side, the left side and truth somewhere in the middle.

If I based my purchases on reviews I'd own every Pixel. LOL Just teasing.

I watch reviews more for entertainment purposes. The last year or so I rarely watched them, before I would go through 7-8 reviews on YouTube, now it's pretty much just MKBHD.

Same Chuck, may Dad was a big CR reader. I liked CR in the past for Appliances, but they don't know squat about technology, audio equipment and just about anything else modern. Like you sad, but I agree the media bias is so bad. I consider myself more of a pragmatist - what ever solution will work the best. I read both sides and tend to ignore the fringe. Actually read more foreign press over the last few years.

Years ago (25+) I wrote tech reviews for a magazine, was a nice second income. I generally did not get too much editorial interference. I only received pay for my articles and kept to a pretty high standard. But, don't trust reviews from sites that do not list an ethics policy and clearly state no freebies were given for the review. I know it some cases in the past were some columnists in big publications were very nicely rewarded for articles. I know of a few companies that received negative articles due to the writer not receiving what they thought was their due. Too bad the Me Too movement was not strong at the time.

I have been reading articles on AC for many years. They have always had a slight Google bias, but over the last few years it seems to be getting stronger.
