Which Headphones....

I'm just listening to my Bose Q25 now, certainly nothing special, but it sounds good. When I get back from the 8 mile run this morning I'll plug in my Grado GS2000e Statements, Grado SR325i, AKG K712, and Sennheiser HD650.

Thanks for the references for some phones. 😊

I use the Jaybird x2 for BT when I need wireless. Mostly when at the gym. I could use a decent set of wired closed back head phones.

So if I am understanding this correctly anything that is wireless and Bluetooth will not work with the HI-FI DAC's? I am looking at the BOSE QC35 wireless headphones and the Grado SR325e. Thanks guys.

Correct. Wireless headphones bypass the DAC.

Correct. DAC stands for digital to analog converter. Since the BT signal is all digital, there's nothing for the phone DAC to do.

Ok...thanks. Because of this info I was able to see and read the difference between the 2. Comprehension is a beautiful thing....lol.

I can recommend the QC25s. Their noise canceling is good and they sound nice. For open back, yes the Grado SR325e would be a nice sounding choice if you like the Grado house sound of boosted treble and bass.

the Bluetooth still has aptx which should sound better if you have aptx capable headphones

and the LG Tone are compatible:

and in my case, my Samsung Level U:

I have the level u pros and they are a great set, not super fantastic audio wise though, but typical for a set under 75$. I had the LG tone pros and took them back, wireless range Sucked big time!!

Neither of the two have anything to do with dad!

The Dac/amp are only utilized through the headphone jack for those that are asking if Bluetooth will work.

Someone do it. I can't afford to right now without using the Visa and having my wife toss me into the street for spending $1,200 on more headphones.

LET ME LIVE THROUGH YOU.

NO! If someone is going to go super high-end, they need to get these:

Next time ask me first before posting something as ridiculous as Ultrasone. :P :P

Boosted bass? I would love to know what Grado you've listened to lol.

Open back? HifiMan HE400s or Sennheiser HD600.

Go from there to the new Focal Elear. Anything in between is not worth it from what I read (haven't heard the Focal personally).

Dude. Have you seen the Ultrasones? Titanium. Lambskin. Mahogany. Go find a Crutchfield or whatever they have out in your god-forsaken desert and hold them. I don't even care how they sound lol.

So you don't notice much difference with or without DAC enabled?

Okay, so these are not exactly Beats (thank goodness) but Grados are known for being kind of ”punchy".

I listen to GS 2000e's who's boosted treble and bass are said to make these a joy at lower volumes. Gotta agree. I love 'em.

These are the 1000e's:

The DAC on the V20 sounds good to my 40+ year-old girly ears but not dramatically better than my S7e, Note 5, or G4 Plus. It's very clean but I'd expect that at 130db SnR. I actually really like the combination of the S7e and Bose QC25. The bass really grabs you but it's not over done (to me). I wanted to listen more to the V20 today but didn't get to but what I heard I liked (I was also in the mood for tunes, so that may've had some bearing).

I'm looking for some recommendations on earphones. Currently using my wire Jaybird x2 when at the gym. Using the wired earbuds that came with my S7E while at work. Could use an upgrade preferably and have no set budget. Need to keep it reasonable though. Listen to just about everything but lean towards rock and metal.

Are you guys going to be using with the HI-FI Quad DAC on the LG V20 to take it to the max audio experience?
I have no clue when it comes to headphones other than the el cheapo Bluetooth LG's, Bose and Beats....that I have managed to always tear apart. I am not a headphone savvy person, so any help is appreciated. Or if there was a thread already please point it out thanks....:p

It would be hard to get a proper recommendation without giving us a little more info. Are you looking for something to take to the gym? Comfort listening at the house? Do you also have a preference on the type (open/closed back, in/on ear, wired/wireless) ?
