Which is fastest/stable ginger-sense ROM?

When I go back to a sense base Rom I will give this one a shot .I havent been back on CM too long yet from Nils older 3.0 Business Gingersense

I'm very much realizing today how much I missed my DInc!

tried 3.5 twice now no fcs or anything just really slow

Yeah, I'm finding the same thing today. A good bit of lag but it is a HUGE ROM to be running on this phone. Aesthetically I love the ROM though. I'm sure after another update or two it'll shake out pretty quickly.

Read a post on XDA that someone disabled all animations to decrease the lag. I tried the same and it works! Way less lag now...of course no fancy animations but I think I can live with it.

Menu>settings>display>Animations, set to none.

Edit: Well a full days "normal" use and the results are mixed. Had the odd "sense force close" and a "Slacker" FC (even though I haven't even used slacker since I got this ROM up and running) but apart from that it's pretty stable....it's pretty laggy but stable. Even with animations off, which helps, it still lags behind a good deal. It's worth keeping as a nandroid so when they update it I/you can restore and update to see if that helps, otherwise I think I'll go back to Nils' Business Gingersense 3.0 till 3.5 is ready for primetime. Too bad to cause Sense 3.5 is beautifully sharp and clean.

Edit to the Edit: Battery life stinks...guess I should have said that above but how often are you not near some 120V for more than 8 hrs? Before I replugged, I went off charger at 0630 and got about 1:35 of uptime with only 23% batt left at 1700...not good...that's hardly using the damn phone during the day, not very practical.

Curious, which version of 3.5 ROM did you try? I released 1.5 a day or so ago with Tiny's custom kernel and performance is better and so is battery life.

Hey Nils! It was v1.4 with Tiny's. I would have been on 1.5 but I was traveling that day and didn't have a chance to upgrade to 1.5. I did however upgrade when I got home that night and I really like the tweaks that were in 1.5. One thing I couldn't figure out was how to set Smartassv2. I've read on your main thread at XDA some people have things set a certain way and said the ROM was flying with no lag. I'm a lurker over on XDA and can't post in your threads cause I don't have 10 posts yet otherwise I would have asked who ever posted that directly.

Thanks for the awesome work...your 3.0 is my default ROM but I really love the 3.5 visually. I'm thinking I'll do a clean install of 3.5 v1.5 today and see if that helps my lag problem.

Anybody have any experience with Beats by Dre?

Flashed newtoroot's Droid Incredible HD Sense 3.5 today and can't seem to get Beat's to work. The icon comes on when I play music through my earbuds and I can hear the earbuds are plugged in (that quiet staticy sound) but no music until I turn Beats off...then the music plays...re-enable Beats and the music cuts out...not sure what I'm missing here.

Use SetCPU to switch to different options with the kernel. It costs in the market but if you find the thread on xda it is free to xda members

It's my understanding that you have to have a beats headset to use the beats functionality. I could be wrong. I've only read a little abot it.

Or the Beats software is looking for specific hardware the DInc does not have. I thought the Beats stuff was as much internal hardware as anything else.

Haven't read much about it on the technical side either but I hadn't heard that. How could it tell the difference...a mini-jack plug is a mini-jack plug right? At least in my tiny little brain.

I just figured it was an "app" installed into the Sense music player. Saw a video of someone plugging their PC speakers into it. I'll PM him and see how he did it.

Nils' 3.5 ROM is the only one I've been able to get 'beats' rockin' on without some external mods. On a nice set of headphones, or plugged into the car stereo, beats really brings your music to life. It's the best sound enhancer out right now, IMO. Amazing bass, detailed mids, and the highs aren't harsh at all. Very clean sounding.

I was having the lag issues that have been mentioned so I flashed it again this morning following his steps pretty much to the letter, and it is running very very well. I even took the step of flashing the official GB leaked ROM first. This may actually be the key.
The result: Almost zero lag with all animations on, including the new Incredible Tweaks section he got from Newt. Eye-candy out the wahzoo!

Only issue I've really had so far is that the G Sensor fails a few minutes after 3d is enabled. This obviously kills 3d, but auto rotate is lost as well. The simple fix is to disable 3d and re-calibrate the G Sensor in 'settings/display'. Some folks are saying it's related to Tiny's kernel. But as long as I can have my precious beats, I can live with it.

I'm running OC'd at 1075 via SetCPU, using Tiny's Smartass v2, and this Rom is fantastic.
Thank you Nils!

Clean install of Nils' Business Gingersense 3.5 v1.5, also flashed Tiny's latest kernel, and SetCPU and I gotta say it's definitely an improvement.

Nils after you mentioned SetCPU in your response I did an immediate facepalm...I had already downloaded it once from XDA and in fact still had it sitting on my SD card...duh...

Got Beats audio working using only my Klipsch earbuds. Sounds pretty good but I suppose my ears aren't sensitive enough to detect the subtilties of why it's so much better than me just using DSP Manager on my own. Don't get me wrong, it does sound really good but I'm just not an audiophile I suppose...I mean, I really don't like listening to things on vinyl.

All in all a really nice ROM...if this is what awaits on the Vigor (Sense 3.5 that is) I'm absolutely gonna be thinking real hard about making a move!

Glad you like it and it works for you.

Looking at the Vigor myself mostly because of this ROM.

See... I was trying to go to CM7.1 but I feel like I'd be doing my Incredible a disservice if I didn't try Gingersense 3.5 v1.5. I'll flash it after work when I have access to wifi at home.

This ROM is flipping sweet. Not because it's 100% glitch free ('m still dealing with some lag here and there and the occasional android.process FC) but because it's running on a single core phone when it was meant for a dual-core, and because it gives you a great look at the future of Sense in general.

My chief complaint about stock android is that after using Sense, stock just seems unpolished and bit unrefined. I know Sense can be a resource intensive OS but it is well put together and very clean/slick in appearance.

Thanks for the awesome work Nils!

Which is why, more often than not, I'm running the rooted OTA with gingertiny. Sure, it's only Sense 1.0 but there's something I like about Sense that I always miss when I'm on CM.

I feel you on that.

FYI, just set my SetCPU to "perfomance", set all animations to off, and I'm using Tiny's kernel and this ROM is now flying!! Much quicker. Battery life will probably be the trade off but I'm not that concerned...I can usually get to a plug if need be.

Yeah, I'm generally never too far away from some 120! LOL Knowing me, I'll give it another install after work!
