Which is fastest/stable ginger-sense ROM?

I can confirm when dragging the phone icon, down into the lock ring it goes to the phone dialer, and email icon drugged into ring gives you option of which email, dragging camera goes to camera, etc

It's not really a problem of what comes up when dragging the icon into the lock ring, it's that the screen freezes and I can't drag anything to be able to answer the call.

Weird......Nil's 3.0 just would not work on my phone, but Nils 2.1/3.0 works flawlessly.

I'm pretty new to flashing roms so maybe you can help. I just flashed Nils' Business GingerSense 3.0 (V2.3) but I'm having a problem with it using small amounts of data (10kb) at random times. I have data turned off and use wifi. How can I stop this? I've noticed that when I open the GPS away from wifi the 3G icon comes on briefly and then goes off using a small amount of data. I have a pay as you go plan and data is too expensive so I have to get it to stop this. Any ideas? Also, I wish it were faster. Are there any better sense roms? :-\

Thanks...I've been checking the thread on it and it sounds pretty cool..any screenies? I'll give it a go when I get off the road..can't afford to have a semi-functional phone while I travel.

Sorry for the late reply. I don't have any screenies....it's worth a try. He's been updating it furiously. NilsP also put one out but it's a work in progress.

I'm stuck on NilsP BusinessGingersense 3.0 V2.3 for now. It's fast, stable, no probs what so ever.

Sounds like you need to try the "Perform a Complete Wipe" fix.Give it a shot and see if this helps you out.

Reboot to Recovery Wiping these:

Main Screen:
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

Advanced:
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Wipe Battery Stats

Mounts and Storage:
Format-
/boot
/system
/datadata
/data
/cache
5. Install Rom from SD Card
6. Reboot and enjoy!

No worries man. I was on Nils' 3.0 v2.3 till last night when I went back to CM7 for the first time in almost 2 months.

Thinking my next adventure might be McSenseless....sounds like AOSP but with the 720p of the Sense camera.

Nils Gingersense 3.0 v2.3 has been the MOST stable of Nils ROM's that I've tried (I've been on at least 3 or 4 different ones). I've been on it for 4+ days now and not one FC.

One thing i did different this time is not restore as many apps from Titanium. Mostly did a fresh install from the Market. Only data i restored was my bookmarks and playlists. Lovin' Sense 3.0.

I followed your instructions and did a complete wipe but have the same problem. When I open Google Maps it turns on 3G for a few seconds even though I have Mobile Data turned off. Even worse, it works sporadically, sometimes it stops updating my position on the map or can't find itself. On my account you can see where each time it's hitting me for 10kb. Even when I'm not using Google Maps it connects for a few seconds about 10 times a day even when I'm on wifi. It never did this with the stock rom and data turned off. Any more suggestions? I'd hate to have to flash back to the stock rom but I need it to work.

This is a very data intensive phone. Not really sure what tell you, but I'm not surprised it's "sneaking" data on you...that's kind of what it does.

Do you have the GPS turned off?

Opening Google Maps is going to use some data, it has to do something to ascertain your position, whether that be your GPS, or your 3G, or usually the combination of the two...it's not just going to go off of the WiFi.

If you want to try another Sense 3.0 ROM you may want to try Community ROM...its very smooth and run's very similar to Nils' Business Gingersense.

[ROM][8-18-2011] Community ROM RC5 [Sense3.0][720p][CRT][Battery%][Overscroll glow] - xda-developers

As I said, its a good Sense 3.0 ROM..not perfect mind you, but then, neither is the official Gingerbread release (what are we up to, delay number 3 now?)

Thanks for your help. With the stock rom it never sneaked data at all. The GPS is turned on and it worked fine with the stock rom to see where I was on Google Maps, it doesn't need data for that. Of course I couldn't punch in an address to look up without data or wifi available but I was fine with that. Now Google Maps can't tell me where I am sometimes and seems to get lost and the 3G comes on for a few seconds. I'm on a pay-as-you-go plan and I can't afford data. I like the rom, is there a way I can contact the developer to see if he knows about this glitch? Thanks

Using Google maps is going to use data, if there was no data it would not be able to draw the map unless you somehow have the maps you want cached.

Getting in touch with the developers could be tricky as it was put together by more than one person, hence the name of the ROM. I'd start by going to the original thread from XDA and posting your questions there. Im sure someone from the development team will are it and respond.

Nils is rocking the house with his new Business GingerSense 3.5 ROM. It's not as fast as 3.0, but boy is the eye candy worth it.
It's developed and matured about as fast as any Rom I've ever seen. He released v1.3 this morning. If you add tiny's latest kernel, and the Quick Launch mod (taken from the Bliss Rom that came out on themikmik a couple of weeks ago), it's a whole new experience. Highly recommended!

FINALLY had a chance to flash Gingersense 3.5 today. Its a pretty good ROM but I was getting quite a few FC's..and not trivial things like apps, I mean Superuser and a couple others that seemed pretty important to the overall stability.

It also had quite a bit of lag and big time battery drain though to be fair I didn't really give it a chance to settle out (I usually like to give ROMs 3 days or so to really level out)

Also my WIFI wouldn't work no matter what I did...re-boot, fix permission, and different kernel but all to no avail...no WIFI for me.

I did make a nandroid of it though so when Nils puts out an update I can just flashover it and maybe it'll get better with less lag.

Edit: Well I'm an idiot. Went back to XDA and re-read the original 3.5 thread and Nils lays out how to alleviate most of these types of problems. It'll have to wait till tomorrow though as it seems a bit involved.

Just checking in guys. I went over to my dx for about a month. Was missing sense and now I'm back. Running the rooted OTA with the gingertiny!

What's new?

You know - same ol' same ol'. Rocking Phone, ROM's a-plenty, Flashing like it's a felony. Just another day in paradise! ;)

That's what I missed so much... All the options. Then I purposely didn't keep up with development so that when I came back I could stumble onto some surprises. ;-)

Followed Nils' instructions for problem installs and I must say its much smoother than when I tried yesterday. Looking forward to a full days use.
