Which Messaging App?

Re: Which Messaging App

There's no way of knowing a side loaded app will be the original apk or something another party loaded with something bad.

I'm not that paranoid. I search and look at the various sites that host APKs and usually download from repositories.

Re: Which Messaging App

I know, I was disappointed in that update. But they assured me they are fixing it. Maybe they will soon.

They had another update yesterday, still no customized bubble colors. But it keeps saying it's coming soon smh.

Re: Which Messaging App

I used to use ChompSMS and now I am using stock. I like the way it works though that brown is ugly.

I would suggest MySMS or MightyText that way you can text from your computer.

I also like Hangouts. It is nice though would be better if it worked like iMessage but if I want that I should just get an iPhone.

Re: Which Messaging App

I've grown to like the Material Design look... could use a few enhancements like color choice for background to contrast the theme background or allowing bubble color changes and i guess those will happen soon. but the most important thing for me is that it seems to do everything the stock ATT messenger app does and it performs better which it has. It's been rock solid for me.

Textra is amazing! The app looks so good on the G3.

Re: Which Messaging App

I like the performance of Textra too. I just wish they'd have waited to release the new design until they had all their best features we love baked in.

Re: Which Messaging App

Is there a way to use the LED notification light on hangouts? I would use it if it would let you

Re: Which Messaging App

As others have said I would use Textra if you're looking for a good app. I use another app by that developer called ChompSMS and love it.

Re: Which Messaging App

When comes to the text app, I go with the pay kind, so there will be no add and more reliability. One of my favorite is the hoverchat, formerly Ninja text messages. It has heads up notification plus the bubble head notification of your favorit contacts. Plus plenty of customization, if it wasn't for the kitkat incompatibility, I'll still be using it. The next best thing which I'm currently using is slide messaging. Has lots of features you will not find on any generic free texting apps. Extremely secure since it's written by the same person that developed the talon twitter client app, which is another one of my favorite.

Re: Which Messaging App

If you want details after an update, open the app and you goto the top where you can get settings and below that is option for 'what's new' that will give you the changelog.

I know where to find the "what's new" option..... It was actually a rhetorical question..... But thanks anyway......

Re: Which Messaging App

They are going to update Textra so that you can once again customize the chat bubble colors. I emailed them and complained about them taking it away. They wrote back and said many people have complained and they are listening to their users.

There was a recent update to the App. Are you using it?

I'm using Textra and am getting sick of all the updates, yet still no changes to the bubble colors. They had said they'd fix it last week. But no. I'm pretty tired of developers taking things away in an attempt to "improve" an app. Whoever thought taking the chat bubble color option away was a good idea? It's yet another example of a developer ruining an app by taking away one of its best features.
