Which Messaging App?

Re: Which Messaging App

I'm using Textra and am getting sick of all the updates, yet still no changes to the bubble colors. They had said they'd fix it last week. But no. I'm pretty tired of developers taking things away in an attempt to "improve" an app. Whoever thought taking the chat bubble color option away was a good idea? It's yet another example of a developer ruining an app by taking away one of its best features.

Thank u! It's been like 4 updates since last Friday. U are absolutely right that they are ruining a good app.

Re: Which Messaging App

Another update this morning! Up to 2.7.

I did notice in version 2.6 when you create a new text and press the icon at top to pick recipients they fixed the spelling for the column labeled 'favorites' it was 'favourites' in 2.5.

In 2.6 i actually got an error sending a pic through my camera this morning that said incorrect format or something. i could attach a pic from gallery no error but it was taking a pic. I saw the update available and then tried the camera and no error. hmm.

Why did Textra have 2 updates today n 1 yesterday?

Maybe that's part of the bugs that they r fixing. I know I had an issue after the update to give us the Android L look. I sent them an email n they promptly fixed the issue.

Re: Which Messaging App

I have to say the developer shot himself in the foot by saying custom bubble colors by end of week lol... but impressed he's been pushing out updates as fast as he could and can see he's listening to some degree. CoWorker wrote him about putting universal search (along with a ton of other people too i imagine) and he updated not too long after.

I really didn't like seeing the bug i experience but glad I didn't see it after the update and only had to endure it for 5 minutes because I have been snapping pics in texts all day and unless it was a network issue, hadn't had an issue since.

I imagine we'll see the custom bubble colors soon. I actually suggested and hope we see custom background colors... even if in same palette to choose against the theme color for some contrast. Or allow pictures... but I know the more stuff he puts in, it will start blurring the lines with his Chomp app.

Does Chomp (still) have custom bubble colors?

Re: Which Messaging App

I stated using Textra about a month ago and custom chat bubbles were already gone. I would rather the developer work on message scheduling and the like.

Re: Which Messaging App

Why are custom chat bubbles so important?

For me, they're important because I have several people I text on a regular basis and I like the different colors of the bubbles for different people. The chat bubble colors were taken away and that was one of the best features of Textra. Users don't like big changes to apps. Why developers don't get that, I don't know.

Re: Which Messaging App

I really enjoyed Evolve. Nobody had issues with mms and group messaging though?

I agree 100%. It's not an upgrade if features are taken away. The custom bubbles helped me quickly see who texted without squinting to read the texts.

Yes but maybe just for premium version? I have the premium version and change all the colors and backgrounds everybody often to keep it fresh.

Chomp is definitely the best messaging app, IMHO

Best part is you can have it open in its own window even when phone is asleep, when you get a text, so you can text back right from that, no need to open app or unlock phone to reply. Definite plus!

Thank you! Maybe I'll try it, although I like the lightness of Textra.

Oh just noticed you have the One plus one. How you like it?

I find chomp very light and fast. Never really lags. Unless when the other person sending a text at same time you are, it may freeze for a second or so, but may have to do more with the signal and carrier than the actual chomp app

I love my 1+1 ! It's a great device! Price can't be beat for 64 GB and the incredible hardware. The new Nexus may have a faster processor but I doubt it will beat the OPO in most other ways and my OPO cost about $80 less than my 32 GB Nexus 5. Thank you for these tips about Chomp. Maybe I'll try out the free version (if there is one) and see what I think.
