Which Messaging App?

Re: Which Messaging App

I love my 1+1 ! It's a great device! Price can't be beat for 64 GB and the incredible hardware. The new Nexus may have a faster processor but I doubt it will beat the OPO in most other ways and my OPO cost about $80 less than my 32 GB Nexus 5. Thank you for these tips about Chomp. Maybe I'll try out the free version (if there is one) and see what I think.

From my OnePlus One...
Awesome. Read good things about the OPO

And yes there is a free version of chomp on play store. Hope you u like it. I tried Hangouts too and other apps. Always come back to chomp!

Great, thanks! When my Nexus is done charging I think I'll give Chomp a try. I've felt that same way about Textra but it still kind of irks me that the dev didn't understand our reactions or wait to release the new design until all the features were back in it (yes I know it's the same Dev as for Chomp :-)

May be a dumb question but why would the same developer do two messaging apps. Wouldn't you want to focus on one and make it the best app possible?

Good question! Dunno but we could ask the Dev in a nice way!

So found out I was not able to send Mms (pictures, videos) thru chomp. I was only able to receive it

Played around with settings but nothing worked

Went to Hangouts and now I'm able to receive and send pics. I love chomp but not being able to send pics is a definite no

I like Chomp alo, but for some carriers the delivery receipts stopped working. They claim it's a carrier issue, but their other app textra is fine, along with every other SMS app I've tried.

Yes but maybe just for premium version? I have the premium version and change all the colors and backgrounds everybody often to keep it fresh.

Chomp is definitely the best messaging app, IMHO

Best part is you can have it open in its own window even when phone is asleep, when you get a text, so you can text back right from that, no need to open app or unlock phone to reply. Definite plus!

@mchi5: I can send photos with chomp. I'm using a T-Mobile G3.

Yeah its weird. I always had difficulties sending Mms or receiving though chomp. I'm on AT&T. . Now it completely stopped working

Hangout works perfectly though so unfortunately I'll have to stick with that

Seems like I am going back and forth between Chomp and Textra.. Chomp seems to have a few more features than Textra for now...

I left stock because I want custom text tones for my contacts and unfortunately Tmobile thought that was a feature we didn't need and removed it from our options. I like chomp again. Its very smooth and many options in customizing including setting a different notification for certain contacts 😊

I downloaded it and ran it to try it out... I like the way it looks and little things like shows you have images in your chat list or the way the bubbles look and showing images looks good.

It's very basic though and needs a few more features and will keep the app and hopefully they will add some in... but until doing a side-by-side, Textra runs a little smoother for me than the Google Messenger and a bit more polished with a few more features and does the Material Design style just as well.

In the sample pics in Google Play it looked like to me you could set a picture as a background in your chats... I thought one pic was of a person behind the the chat bubbles... but I can't see any settings to do that... there really aren't that many setting options.

I am using the new Google messenger. It's pretty good so far!

I tried the new Google messenger, but found it too basic and went back to textra.

One major thing Google left out was Android Wear support! How can they leave out support for that from their own product?
Textra has nice Android Wear support, and so do some other sms apps.

I just put Chomp ad free on my G3, I like it.
The stock is good too, plain but good. I have not tried the google new one yet.
I am excited for lollipop, so will just have to wait and see how things are.

Which one has the best android wear support. Google hangouts has the most as of now I can see but textra seems to actually look and work the best on the phone, especially large screens IMO.
