Which phone are you upgrading to (if you are)?

Hm LeslieAnn made a good point, now that I think about it! A webpage doesn't load any faster on a good 3G connection than a good 4G one. Which, I think, means that you have to consider 4G to be mainly useful for unlimited plans. Since Virgin throttles down our data to 1x after 2.5GB anyways, it's not going to make a huge difference if you're on a limited data plan.

So that actually raises an interesting point. I currently own and use an OV. I have no plans to switch to an unlimited data plan. That said, would the One V be worth upgrading to? What do you guys think

No, 4g can be useful on all plans, if you can get it. For one, it will be unlimited, but regardless of that it's still good on large downloads or if 3g is lagged.

Let's rephrase what I was saying...
If you download a 5Kb picture on 3g, it will take almost no time. Same as 4g. this is what you do when browsing, all small files.

Now download a ROM, 4g will go fast, but 3g week take a long time.

So for browsing, 4g has little benefit, but large stuff it does. Most of what you do is small, it doesn't matter how much you download whether 4g will be a benefit, it's how large the file is that you are downloading.

As for the One V, it's a nice medium to low spec phone, but with good build quality.

It's a great phone, and will do what you want (except GTA3 and some future games), but the Evo V will shred it in speed.

Google Galaxy Nexus unlocked on T-Mobile.

I am so there. I have a G2 that I can't root (but which is a great phone) and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 which will probably be 2 years old before Samsung decides to update to ICS. It will be a really long time before I get another vendor branded device.

Not to get off topic too far but the 1v is not even in the same league as the Evo V 4G imo.. It's the bic lighter of handsets and just sounds like it wants to seek out a garbage dump quickly.. The non removable battery just shuts me down instantly.. I really don't know what they are thinking here.. For me the 1V never got on the radar screen..

Not when there's 1.2 GHz dual core goodness just around the corner Stuffed full of goodies and a normal handset ta-boot complete with removable battery :).. Well 24 hours should see some news on our baby.. Can't wait..

Not to mention the Evo was underclocked. You can overclock it back to 1.5GHz.

I'm only staying with Radio Shack because of the $20 deal. Plus they finally confirmed it.

I checked the description and specs on the best buy link above and still no use of the word dual core?? 8 gig sd card was mentioned.. No mention of RAM either.. Is it just me or are they trying to make this handset sound lack luster?? And the last thing that makes me wonder is there is no rear camera shot.. WTF!! Every vendor site seems to be using the same stock photo of it.. Little hype going on here.. Will not get it there!!

I'll tell you guys/gals, new phones are fun but a little stressful when going through the root/ROM process for the first time. It's like learning a new language! The only thing that's a little frustrating with the Galaxy S2 is that when going from ICS ROM to ICS ROM, you have to flash a GB kernel first. This will hopefully be fixed when ICS gets officially rolled out.

I'm running a ROM right now where I have tons of options like:

- Pick your boot animation (about 15 pre installed)
- Weather in lockscreen
- 25 different status bar tweaks
- Flashlight and Camera shortcuts in notification pull down menu
- tons of more options

Good stuff. To those patiently awaiting the EVO V, I hope it comes through and is as good as it looks!
