Who else will be ditching their S5 for the iPhone 6 ?????

Wow, so iPhone's will be getting some of the features that android phones have had for years. How intriguing. History seems to be repeating itself.

It seems most of the people around me switch their phones once they have been with one of the platforms long enough or no major changes/improvements for the OS. Apple users will switch to Android and vice versa, tho Android users still have a lot of manufacturers to choose from before they jump to Apple.

But some of our over zealous Apple friends will be shouting innovation from the roof tops. 😃

I find all kinda mobile phones are pretty much the same these days. Aside from different manufacturers' gimmicks, all I have to pick are which features are important to me and which has a better design.

So here's what I have summarized when I'm making a choice

iphone
- 99% stable performance
- more premium apps (and reach ios first before android, not exactly important)
- less customization (important to me)
- boring designs both software and hardware (when I buy something I want it completely new. I almost, always switch brands when I upgrade my phones)
- great unifying experience if you have other Mac products (I dont')
- lotsa accessories to choose from (manufacturers and third parties)
- Great product support
- Overall Apple products are all about paying

Galaxy S5
- 95% stable performance
- boring design (worse than Apple and other Android manufacturers imo, especially softwares. Designers have no taste in choosing the right colours palette, in most cases they use too much colour which make the interface extremely childish and too much going on at the same time. No sense of placing buttons and options in menus for better user friendliness too)
- lotsa accessories to choose from (not as much as Apple maybe, but enough)
- allows customization (just like most Android)
- not so great product support (comparing to other Android manufacturers, HTC and Sony are the best so far imo)

I'm looking forward to the Note 4 tho. As a heavy sketching and note taking person, the S-pen plus palm rejection is one thing I could look pass most of the flaws. I used to be all about design and looks but since I got the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 I learnt to like something I find ugly. Functionality>design FTW ;]

I would have to disagree about the product support, at least where I live. If I have a problem with my Samsung phone I can take it to the Samsung store where someone will have a look at it. They will try and fix it on the spot and if they can't they will send it to be repaired and it will be ready and working within a few days. If I've smashed my screen I can take it to a Samsung store and have a new one fitted within a few hours. I can also chat on line with a Samsung agent who will try and diagnose the problem.

Where I live if I have a problem with a non Apple or Samsung phone I have to take it to my carrier who will send it away to the oem. I can be without my phone for up to 2 weeks.

In my experience Samsung's product support was excellent, with them replacing my Note 3's water-damaged screen, free of charge, few questions aaked. I love that phone and look forward to seeing the Note 4.

I'll be switching back to iPhone. I switched from a iPhone 5S to a Galaxy S4, because of the bigger screen size, at first I was hooked on to Android, and I wouldn't switch back to iPhone, but now after a few months of using Android, I'm gettin frustrated with all the bugs, and system crashes.

Everything i do now with my Android, I can do with iOS 8 + With a third party keyboard.. So I got nothing to lose, but everything to gain!

Lots of comments are that iOS is locked up, and not Customizable. That's what makes it a better OS, and not crashable!!

Then there is Storage space. iPhone has a 64GB iPhone, most Android users don't buy a 64GB phone, cuz they can put in a SD card, but face it. They buy a 16GB Android, and put in a 32GB card... So they dont even get to 64GB. (if you put in a 64GB card, your phone will likely keep on crashing.)

And just say it. iOS 8, is way better in design then any android. Admit it. Even u customize it your own way.

There are so many plus and minuses to both iOS and Android. While I currently prefer android I've had many an iPhone and look forward to seeing the new iPhones better compete. My Samsung phones have been ridiculously stable and neither of them know what a "crash" is, unlike my iPhone 4, which does lag, it stops, completely locks up and is painfully slow in just about all it does, so it's just a Map-My-Run tool and music player for my daily runs, it is literally unable to do much else. My android phones, on the other hand are liquidy slick and quick. Not even rooted they are stellar as were my iPhone 5s', when I had them. Its just good stuff that both platforms are mature where they are and only getting better.

I'm sticking with Android.

I'm some one who buys phones off contract, and Apple products are so overpriced. IPhone 6 doesn't really offer me something Android does not provide.

Are they overpriced or just to expensive?

I mean Samsung phones off contract are also very expensive... But they're made of plastic and they include tons of software that everyone rushes to uninstall.

Apple phones at least have high end hardware.

Im typing this on my Note 3, which has a fake brushed-aluminum face, fake chrome bezel, and fake leather back. And yet R&D dollars were spent developing S-Voice and S-Health, etc.

big screen or small screen, the iphone will still have it chaotic grid of icons.

I do not own an s5, but am a multiple device owner. I plan to jump on the 5.5 if all the rumors pan out.

I used to root and rom etc. All boring to me now. I just want an app for that and all the accessories that come with iPhone. Lots of neat things you can do. Will keep my android and wp.

But once you have an android device then you can get an iOS device and enjoy the goodness of both. One must admit that iOS still has the more refined apps but, yes, android is catching up.

True but some don't have that kind of cash.. Or want to spend that kind of cash to dual hat :).

That right there is the #1 reason I'm not ready to buy an iPhone these days. I'm OK with it on their iPads but it bothers me on phones.

Good points, yet my Note 3 is still the most beloved phone I've ever had.

I just made the switch to Android with the S5 in April, I had been with the iPhone for 5 years and now I don't think I could ever go back. I think part of it was I just got bored with the iPhone but the biggest thing was the lack of customization... and all my iPhone's were Jailbroken. I had a nightmare with the whole texting issue once I left Apple and I think that experience alone will prevent me from every going back the way they handled it.

Not defending Apple prices or anything, but if you are one buying phones off contract you should know that the majority of Android phones off contract are just as expensive. I paid $650 off contract for my Note 2.

I will be purchasing a iPhone 6 for suee. The galaxy s5 is too buggy for me. Android has way too many issues and inconsistency problems. I miss how fluid ios is and the polished system.

That's certainly not a unique perspective.

Had an iPhone 2 then 4 then a Z10 but when I got my Note 2 I just fell in love the rest were very great phones but the Samsung phones are just loveable and fun. When I got my S5 I was just amazed how fun using it is! Would I switch back to an iPhone? Nope why because it's the same thing over and over with tiny details fixed and the restrictions still there.
