Who else will be ditching their S5 for the iPhone 6 ?????

[removed by moderator ] If you think that the S5 is as fluid as the 5s or the iPhone 6, then you are insane. This phone constantly lags. My N5 was so much more fluid in every aspect. Texting is a pain in the **** on this thing because the keyboard can't keep up as at times it lags and stops working.

I'll stick to my S5 and android from here on out. I've dealt with iPhones. I had the 3GS, 4, 4S, 5, and 5S and every single time I ended up coming back to Android. I don't care for the Apple ecosystem and I like the openness of the Android system. I may not stick to Samsung for my next phone, just to change it up a bit, I will stick to Android.

No need to address an insulting comment. Report and move along, thanks :)

So basically you are saying that if people post problems about Android in an internet forum it is a myth, whereas if people post problems about Windows Phone in an internet forum it is legit. Yeah, you're not biased at all, lol.

No reviews have been widespread and many people have corroborated those issues and almost every Lumia phone in the past year or so has some some kind of widespread issue. Not biased, just saying what I see. And that is not just forums, that's why I mentioned Nokia. But go ahead believing what you want.

What I believe is irrelevant, because I'm not rendering an opinion on quality between Android phones, Windows phones and iPhones. I am merely pointing out the logical inconsistency in your argument. You said yourself that we should go to WP Central and look at the complaints on Nokia quality control as evidence of problems. In a prior breath you said that the poster should disregard problems with Android phones that he read in this forum. Your justification was that those problems are a myth because on forums there are more people saying they have problems than those who say "this phone is awesome." Why would the problems be a myth in Android Central and fact in WP Central?

I don't really know whether Android phones or Windows phones or iPhones have more problems than competing phones, but I do know that your argument is logically inconsistent. If you can show me some statistics that support your position, I would find your position more compelling.

Maybe I should not have said "look at WPCentral", but still:

Found scattered reports on 925 having battery issues and Lumia 1020 having battery issues but you get my point.

It's still iOS whether it's a bigger screen or not. So no, I prefer Android OS.

Great, you just demonstrated that there are reported problems with some Windows Phones on the internet. Where's the comparison with reported problems from Android phones? iPhones? Nevertheless, from the internet data you willingly concede is slanted toward complaints, you extrapolate that WP has more problems than any other mobile phone OS. There are now two logical flaws in your position. Keep going--you're on a roll.

I mentioned Nokia specifically and provided sources for Nokia devices from the past year, yet you dismiss it.

Yes, I am on a roll, it seems you felt the need to comment on my post, and go into this tirade to destabilize my original post, but whatever. You win nothing by furthering this discussion if all you seek is to discredit my argument.

We're starting to bicker and troll and we should try not to do that. Let's instead endeavor to make meaningful, productive and mutually respectful posts relevant to the topic at hand. Thanks so much!

To steer the conversation back toward the topic: Would I give up Android in general (as I don't have an S5) for iOS? No. The simple ability to have a homescreen with shortcuts is why I wouldn't. The idea of always digging through my app drawer would not sit well with me. The lack of launchers with having widgets in the dock is also a turn off.

Although TouchWiz had been improved, I do agree that it is a bit slow.

I have been using Nova Prime which is lightning quick, no lag issues whatsoever.

I previously had the iPhone 4 before switching to Android. I much prefer the Android OS over IOS.

3 huge pluses : removable battery, my 64 gb SD card, and the ability to choose from a multitude of music player apps (power amp). I have 338 albums /4022 songs on my phone, have about 36 gb of storage left.

The screen is gorgeous BTW.

The fact that we are debating the merits of this amazing technology across many different platforms, which is available at our finger tips, makes us all winners.

This is generally pretty self explanatory, but for those that might have missed it - when any moderator asks for things to return towards civil and on-topic posts, the trolling and personalized back and forth need to end there. Please shoot me a PM if there are any questions about the expectations there.

I admire the iPhone, iOS 8, and Apple. However, there are 2 android phones right now that have surpassed iPhone in every advantage an iPhone has ever had over android: quality, reliability, performance. Those are the only 3 areas where iPhone had a leg up until now. In other areas like capabilities and features pretty much every android has always bested the iPhone. All Apple really has left now is the ability to enter a physical Apple Store for service.

I'm not going to actually name the two phones in order to fend off the usual responses, but I will name 2 android handset makers that have been on my don't buy list since 2011: Samsung and LG. Their entire business culture seems to revolve around making a "me too" product and doing it on the cheap to save money while adding superficial but poorly done blingy features to get a quick easy buy from people. Just like
Hyundai cars and cheap MMO knockoffs.

The entire impression I get from a Samsung or LG phone reminds me a lot of a Hyundai. It LOOKS as good as a Honda as long as you don't know anything about cars. Except for the inferior drive train, suspension, engine, and overall QC. But hey it's a couple of thousand less, what a deal! It's just a sleazy business culture. I'd actually feel dirty buying one.

I. Beta testing IOS 8 right now and I'm telling you don't get too excited. iPhone 6 is going to be IOS on a larger screen.

Lol. Maybe I could take that seriously if samsung weren't responsible for making many of the parts the go into most smartphones these days.

My Note 3 is also great, but I hate the "fake" design (fake brushed aluminum, fake chrome, fake leather), and TouchWiz sucks (better with Wanam Xposed, though).

You know you can get rid of most of touchwiz, right? Just choose a 3rd party launcher, just like you can do with the iPhone. Oh, wait, no. You can't. You're stuck with the home screen than doesn't let you customize anything, and that look just like the icon grid the Palm Treo had 10 years ago.
