Who has to send theirs back? Why?

The upper back corner, near the power button, was separating from the unit. I couldn't get the back to snap back on and, even worse, it would cause the entire back to almost come off, exposing the innards. I returned it to Staples. I'm disappointed that the Nexus 7 seems plasticy and and cheap to me. The OS seemed really good, but not the hardware as much.

Did you deselect the option to have your Google account linked to the device as part of the order? I believe it is selected by default. Because if you chose to have your account link, I'm assuming that they had to take it out to link it and then repackage it. The device is too new for refurbs to be making the rounds.

I selected that option too but mines was sealed.

Yes the seal was broken on mine and the same tape used to reseal. I will be sending mine back for a refund as I'm not happy with the washed out look.

Glass is separating from the upper left side. Has gotten worse over the two days I've had it and now makes a clicking noise when the area is touched.

I'm going to attempt to call Google tomorrow. I'm assuming they will send a box to send the defected device back in when they send me a new device?

Now I'm just afraid I'm gonna get a new one with a different problem. Otherwise I have no complaints about the device and really enjoy it

Going to call Google after I get some sleep just got out from work. Last night I found out that my nexus 7 has 6 dead pixels. :'(

Mine was delivered this morning with a strange narrow vertical purple line on the screen. It's tiny but nevertheless annoying. Apparently, the line is in the glass itself i.e. it's visible on the screen but NOT on the screenshot. On the other hand, having in mind all the RRR hassle (return, replace, re-deliver) I'm not that sure what to do. :-\

I have left side glass separation and a single dead pixel.

After playing with it for a few days, I decided my phone is enough.

Back it goes!

We had three in total and one was returned. That's not a good average but as has been said it's too small a sample to know. Happy customers don't post so one must assume that with a million or so shipping the defect ratio must be small.

Had to send mine back due to left side screen issue like everyone else. I waited 3 weeks just to get my hands on defective device =(. Kinda feeling bad that i preordered

I'm not sure I need to send it back, but the silver edge on the left side of the tablet seems to have been dropped as there's a slight dent about halfway down. Anyone else see this as well or do most people have a straight left edge?

Mine has the exact same thing. Going to send mine back. That kind of thing drives me nuts. It may be how this batch was molded. But for 280 bucks I want my bezel to not look dented.

Blown speaker. I am going to send it back. Who do I call? I went to play.google.com didn't see a number to call.

Mine's going back tomorrow for the raised glass issue. It's a shame because I absolutely love it other than that.

OK, so here's something NOT to do. Most Android devices allow you access to a "maintenance" or "reboot bootloader" menu by holding down both volume keys as you press the power (unit should be powered off first). Tried that with Nexus 7, and just got the little Google Dead Droid laying on the screen, with no functionality from any buttons. Google authorized the return/swap, but about 30 minutes later it just rebooted itself and all is fine now. Zero other issues and this was clearly a dumb move on my part (though I still think it's a minor firmware glitch that prevents that from working normally).

I called Google tonight about the glass separation on mine and they said they would contact me via email within 48 hours about returning my device.

Anybody else experience this?
