Who is getting a 32 gb card for their Evo3d and which one?

Ya it's me again! I have some questions maybe you all can help me with, being a nubi. I have an EVO 3d.
1) I called HTC for info. About class 10 cards the rep said the phone is rated for class 2 or 4 & used phrases like "anything faster is questionable" & "we won't guarantee", whatever that means. Maybe a 6 is better?

2) when I see cards that say 32g (what I want) class 10 sdhc micro "FLASH" mem card the word "flash" confuses me. Does flash make the card different? Would it still be comparable with my EVO 3d?
3) is there a way to transfer data between cards without a computer? I don't own or have access to one
4) can I use multiple cards for different purposes? Say 1 for music, 1 for movies, & 1 for "adult" content, etc? Do I just switch out cards for whatever I'm wanting to dnld BEFORE downloading?

I have been searching the internet for answers but my particular questions are never addressed. Be glad when i know what I'm doing, order the dang things, & move on to other stuff.

Thanks for any advice & your patience

1. Means that HTC hasn't tested it to say that it will or will not work. Therefore they are mute on the compatibility.

2. Flash is what they all are...i.e. usb thumb drives, SDHC, microSDHC, etc.

3. No. Whether you use a PC, Laptop or phone, they are all a form of computer. Also if a data transfer device is available, you would have an easier time borrowing a computer.

4. Yes, but that is a lot of switching as previous poster stated. You may want to research a cloud base service. Just type it into Google on your phone and you will find plenty.

Thank you both. Great idea, enthuz about a cloud service. I'm not used to them having only used mp3 cloud to store my mp3 music. Learned some useful stuff. Thankis everyone:)

Hi guys! Hey moose; in your reply you mentioned a class 10 not going to hurt. I talked to an HTC rep (again) who said a class 10 may cause problems in not recognizing all the files. Do you think? I know that there is a lot of misinformation from many reps. It also appears to get a 32g micro, class 4 is the highest. Can find nothing in class 6. I also think I'm beginning to obsess on this issue. May have to shoot myself. Oh ya; read that a small jolt of static electricity can wipe out a card. Interesting. Guess I need to buy a pc just to backup a mem card. Any thoughts?

Think of it this way... you put on some racing tires that can handle 200mph on a car with a top speed of 120mph... kinda of a waste? sure... does it hurt the car? no... is it a bad thing? no...

There's no real need for a phone to have a fast access to the external memory as most should reside internal that are critical. Everything else is fast enough type situation... Seems like class 4 or 6 is more than fine... but if you transfer files to and from the card (videos/music) and such then faster is always better. At the same time; this is a phone... most of us will probably slow down on the transfers after the first couple months.

as for static electricity... you only worry about stuff like that if you for some reason keep taking out the card and fiddle with it. If you're worried about it while it's inside your phone then you're just paranoid. You might as worry about alpha particles too.

Good analogy. And thanks! Alpha particles just went on my list. Was beginning to worry where I was going after this. I'll recommend this site at my next "obsessive/compulsive is/are us" meeting. All kidding aside, I really appreciate the help, patience, & informed replies. Thanks evieryone!!!!

you should at least get a class 6 for the price... and a couple bucks more you can probably find a class 10. Too bad you missed the tigerdirect sale on the lexar.

just received my 32g from tiger direct I copied everything over no problems seems fast have tons of memory

i had to get a 32gb card. 16gb was not cutting it anymore since i have a lot of music and take a lot of pics. got that lexar class 10 one.

Why not use google music? Copy your music file to your pc desk top just in case you ever want to put back in your phone, and the put all your music in google music. Takes up no space except the app itself. And you can play playlist off line. I cleared 5 mb of music off my sd card and i still have access to all my music threw my phone.

EVO-LUTION 3D

Earlier today I picked up a PNY 32G class10. adapter included from my local Micro Center. It was just was the only one there. I wasn't looking for a class 10 but was the only 32 they had.Marked down to 60 bucks and a free movie download. I got Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind.

No issues with the card works fine.

Fragmentation and Speed

The memory of a card is divided into minimum memory units. The device writes data onto memory units where no data is already stored. As available memory becomes divided into smaller units through normal use, this leads to an increase in non-linear, or fragmented storage. The amount of fragmentation can reduce write speeds, so faster SD memory card speeds help compensate for fragmentation.

The SD Association developed standards specifying operating conditions for SDHC, SDXC, SDHC UHS and SDXC UHS memory cards to guarantee the minimum speed according to the card's speed class. Speed logos are provided to help identify cards that comply with these standards.
