Who is sticking around?

I have no choice. I don't have $300 to blow right now. Wish I did though.

I'll be around for a while. Don't think the accountant (wife) will let me fork out $300 for a phone all at once. Might have to put a bit back here and there if I decide to upgrade. But heck my OV still does what I need it to so I'm not too bothered about it. No 4g in my area so not losing out on that.

do you know.......is there a site where I can see if 4g is available in my area?

Im sure most people are not going anywhere. Please people dont start posting these threads. It happened with the Triumph. Yes the Evo is a MUCH better phone but the people that do leave have been looking for months for a new phone.

I think Jerry stated a while back that he wasnt going to drop the Optimus V as well as some of the other devs. LeslieAnn stated a while back she was looking for a new phone and got a Evo and flashed it to VM. She has been up-front with the community and gave info she really didnt have to.

I understand the panic of OH MY GOD WE ARE [INSERT COMMENT]. But just ride this out. If a dev leaves there is nothing we can do. People buy new phones move to different devices all the time. There is still some very awesome devs here and on the sibling of this phone. Development will continue until its just not possible any longer.

Exactly why I posted the thread I did, asking who was doing what.

More people will stay than leave, especially with the economy and price of new phones and service. There is no need to panic, the OV (or this forum) isn't going to go dark over night. This phone will go on for at least another 6 months to a year of good development before things start to really taper off.

I am probably sticking around at least until I complete my quest for complete debt freedom. I have been kicking butt. Now paying off cars then I am done - absolutely no debt. - so no new expenses and certainly no increase in plan cost for me. (unless I get weak)

Honorable reason. Good luck! Give us a loud "I'm debt free" when you get there

I'm staying. When I do move to a new phone I hope that there is a strong community here at Central. XDA is OK for lurking but I can't call it a good community for me.

I will be staying and probably wait until I have an extra 300$ to blow. Besides where I live there is no 4g but there is in the friggin' redneck town east of where I am which makes NO SENSE at all.
Sprint angers me sometimes.

300 for a phone sound alot. I been with my OP for a year now and is really good phone. If I don't buy a new phone this summer I would stick around

It's not a lot for a good phone.
The problem is that you are comparing it to contract prices.

A $300 Iphone is actually $800, and truth be told, if you count what you spend over 2 years on it, it actually costs you closer to $1800.

These are micro computers, not just a simple phone.

i'd stick around if the 3g wasn't so slow lately I am considering just switching to T-Mobile on their $30 plan because I get 4g plus 2x the data before they throttle me and it is a GSM network which means I don't have to mess with risky programming just to switch to a different carrier. I'd stick with Virgin Mobile if the 4g phone wasn't $300 with T-Mobile I can get a decent used 4g GSM phone for pretty cheap.
