Who switched from iPhone to Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge

If you like Twitter alternatives I recommend Carbon. I installed it and uninstalled the official twitter app almost immediately ^

I'm wondering if any of you switched from iPhone to Galaxy S6 or Edge? Are you happy with your decision? Any features or functionality you are missing from iOS? After getting S6, do you wish you would have gotten iPhone 6?

I have always owned android phone, but a family member is a iPhone user and considering Galaxy S6 or S6E as next phone. Just need some input from forum members who have already switched and experienced both platforms.
Best decision I've ever made. I'll never go back to Apple.

So far I haven't even able to to find any features I miss. One thing I have noticed is that the charges for these phones are everywhere! Everyone has one of those cords (bonus) unlike never being able to find anyone to borrow a charger from

I switched from the iPhone 6 plus. I like the size of the GS6 better. Also much prefer Android notification system. IPhone is slightly more fluid and battery life of 6 plus was better. Some ios apps are more polished, but apps still not optimized for the 6 plus are annoying to me. Switching music over was not so easy. I like the iPhone podcast apps better. Overall nothing is perfect.

the iphone podcast apps better? it just might be the worst app apple ever made! it does not remember the last played position. does not delete played podcasts properly. is extremely slow.

I switched from iPhone 6 to gs6, and for the first time since ios and Android have been on market I have declared the gs6 a winner for me.

I've had all the devices on ios from first iPhone and everything in between. I've had several android phones that were always a far cry from ios. But this s6 is really really polished.

I'm finally able to really enjoy it.

Ios is, and probably always will be the more polished os. But if you look at the ios devices and their progress over the years you will see they have been implementing android features slowly with every release.

It really is genius on Apples part. They're taking all the Android features and implementing them little by little each year thus Causing huge feeding frenzies to the masses most of who have no clue they're buying android tech in an ios format.

Stick with the iPhone. Long time iPhone user here that waved goodbye to my 5s in favour of the S6 two weeks ago and I'm seriously disappointed. This is my first Android phone and I have to say the overall experience doesn't compare to iOS. There are definitely some very cool features on Android but it's just nowhere near as polished as iOS. The biggest problem with the S6 though has to be the battery. It's absolutely terrible. I feel like I'm constantly babysitting the phone, trying to get it to survive until the end of the day.

I moved from a iPhone 6 and love my S6. The 2 things that do it for the most is screen resolution and camera they are both just amazing. The screen is so dam clear and photo picture quality is to die for. What I hate the most is the lock screen notifications. For example if you get 2 text messages from the same person the message text is not displayed it just says 2 messages you have to unlock the phone to read them. I know there are other lock screen apps but my employer restricts me from disabling the lock screen.

(On Verizon) I have never had an iPhone but am thinking of switching. There are only two reasons. 1) is that my company will pay my bill if I have an iPhone and put my company email on it. 2) the signal strength on my GS6 is horrible. Constantly dropping to 3G or 1X unless I am outside. My last phone (MotoX 1st gen) had a great signal no matter where I was.
Comparing the signal strength on my GS6 to a friend's iPhone 6S, the iPhone wins hands down. Always at least one more bar on LTE than the GS6 and when the iPhone went down to 1 bar of LTE my phone was going back and forth between 3G and 1X.
Even drove down a road where there is horrible reception in general and the iPhone only lost the signal for a few seconds. The GS6 lost the signal completely and didn't come back for a few minutes.
Love Android but saving money and having a better signal is hard to pass up. Still have 11 days to return the GS6.

I switched for one reason. Samsung pay.
I like how I can have 5x5 apps and widgets. I think I will stay with galaxy series. Cheaper too.

I thought about that but after doing a bit of research it looks like I'm not the only one with a reception issue. Seems to affect Galaxy S6 (edge and edge plus) and Note 5. Read something about a new type of antenna they're now using.
Quite a few people chimed in saying their GS4's and 5's as well as Note 4's didn't have the same antenna and no reception issues.
Thanks ks for the suggestion though. I will be giving it a try before deciding if I'll make the switch.
I would go with another andoid over an iPhone but not happy with all of the current devices being huge. This GS6 is even a little larger than I like.

I tried out the iPhone 6s plus for 3 days and I was almost bored to death. It went back today and I am back to the S6 until the next release of the note or S series.

I switch from iPhone 6 plus to galaxy s6 S Plus and I'll never go back the only thing I miss about the iPhone is the battery and sending videos, everytime i send a video on the S six it compresses it when I say send it on the iPhone it will never compress

I tried using the 6+ for a few months and that was coming from a long time Android usage.

Battery life was exceptionally better on the 6+ but being a super heavy user, the battery lasted 6 hours compared to my now S6 which will last 4 to 6 hours during even heavier use.

It's clearly how you use it. The 3 gig Ram makes a HUGE difference when you're being a super heavy user. The customization is unbeatable on Android and the S6 benchmark trumps every other android on the market and just about on par with the Note 5 so it's a beast and power horse.

Battery life means nothing to me but the S6 will charge from 5% to a hundred in just a little over an hour so it's a gain to me.

Touchwiz sucks but I always use Nova Launcher anyways so at least you have the freedom to use what you want when you want.

Apple severely restricts a user which is why I will NEVER go back to iOS. Jailbreak is nothing compared to rooting either. Google now trumps Siri by a landslide.

But if a person lives iOS and doesn't use Android to its full potential, it's a waste of time. Stick with the iPhones. The software integration with the hardware is what makes that iPhones so good. But for me, I need that raw power for what I do personally. That's my opinion anyways.

I have an S6 edge+ and I adore it. My sister's 5s looks like an antiquity (and it almost is by now)

I did not really switched over, but I have both an iphone 6s, which i just got, and S6. I have to say that IOS will always be the smoothest and most stable OS. The S6 seems to be getting laggy after like 6 months of use, and the apps load slower than iphone 6s. The S6 also stutters more in the UI and navigation within apps. Web pages load faster in safari than the stock browser or chrome in the S6. IOS will never have the customization power of android though. I am liking both phones though, but overall, I got to give it to the iphone 6s.

I thought I'd chime in here too. I recently went from a Note 4 to an iPhone6+ and am considering buying an S6 Edge because I miss some really basic but key Android things.

I drive almost 4 hours a day, so the biggest use for my phone is as a podcast/music center on my drives. I keep my phone in landscape orientation on my dash. I hate iTunes, so use Spotify on both platforms. Here's a big deal for me right here: Spotify works in landscape mode in Android but not iOS. Seriously. Just this one simple thing has ruined my Spotify experience. I've tried to switch to iTunes because I can actually control the phone via USB in my Mazda 3, but in reality that's a world full of suddenly stopping audio - so I've switch back to Spotify and Bluetooth, which seems reliable.

Some more fun nigglies: Spofity will update it's playlists in the background on Android. On iOS I need to launch the app first. Dumb and annoying. Same with Apple's Podcast app. Won't update unless it's open. It would rule if the USB control actually worked in my car, but alas, crashes and disconnected audio has me going back to Pocket Cast and Bluetooth to enjoy podcasts. (Stitcher still sucks or maybe I'd use that).

For non-car stuff, the iPhone clearly wins. FaceTime, iMessage, AirDrop, and even the Kindle App is different and better in iOS. Simple things like tapping on the top of the screen to scroll to the top of the Facebook app is really, really cool in iOS.

Android has some wins too though: like remembering what my email address is so I don't have to retype it 1000 times like I do in iOS. That's really handy! HOLY **** - A ROW OF NUMBER ON THE KEYBOARD!! I really miss that. I can reply to incoming texts with my car's info system on Android but can't with iOS.

Battery life for me is better on the iPhone 6+ than the Note 4, FWIW.

Okay, that's all I got. YMMV! :)

Does anyone know of any navigation apps that will put up banner notifications when outside of the navigation app, as Google maps does on IOS?

I find it baffling how Google's own OS does not support this feature in Google's own navigation software.

The maps app can support banners, because it throws out updates on my route no matter what app I'm in on my phone. However, a simple banner notification when I'm in the phone app, or email app, telling me there is an upcoming turn is non-existent and I just can't believe it.

Yes, but (as you know) you'll need an iPhone :)

Well...I switched from my iPhone 6 Plus to an edge and then back again (I never sold the iPhone). There's really only two reasons why I switched back. One was the S6's battery life - completely useless compared to the 6+ (but that's not really a fair comparison) and iMessage, which puts iChat and SMS together into one program, and works really well. When I went from the 6+ to the S6, my wife's messages couldn't get through anymore, and that's obviously a problem. I think what I need to do is check out an Edge+, which should have better battery life.
