Who will be dropping VZW after their plan ends?

The big mistake Verizon made was to announce the new option but not train its people about what it meant for new users so responses when people called or spoke with representatives have been all over the place. Also they did not directly address the questions so people just made their own assumptions... And so did journalists who also were being lazy and copying what one person wrote rather than investigate for themselves.

Verizon might eventually make it the only choice for customers with more than one device, which I think is highly likely.

After the 28th it will be the only option for existing and new customers. Only way existing can keep current is to pay retail on phones. The new plans don't suit me and would cost me more. I do have my internet with them. I have the mifi and 5gb. Can use up to 5 devices on it. So I have my laptop and my tablet. That's 49.00. I have the 900 min plan with F&F and an additional 20.00 for unlimited texting. I use the F&F a lot and about half of the 900. Sometimes close but Mai ly in the middle. But the unlimited data I use a lot. With my corporate discount around 160 a month. I would have yo get the 10 gb for 100. My phone 40.00. With laptop and tab that would be 30. So about the same but offering less in data. Not sure. I had thought about leaving but the service and coverage is too good. I can't have spotty coverage and shoddy service. It would be sprint if I were to leave but they aren't that great. And eventually all the carriers will follow.

Indirect retailer trainings have told me otherwise. Existing customers may upgrade but forfeit unlimited data for 2gb.

The current plans are being dropped after the 28th I don't know how the CC rep could say they are not. I have even been told they ARE

Who have you been told by? Verizon clearly stated on their Google + page that the Share Everything Plans were NOT going to be mandatory. In addition Verizon also clearly stated that existing customers DO NOT have to move to the new plans on the official information site for these plans.

If you are referring to the Unlimited Data, then... Yes... People who use an upgrade, aka discount pricing on a device, will have to give that up.

Can you link to it? A quick glance and I see "Did you know that you're not required to switch...".

For now, current customers will have the option to keep their current plans and select from the individual tiered data plans, even if upgrading for the subsidized price, after the 28th. I would link it, but I'm on my phone and don't have the page bookmarked. But its on Verizon's own info page about the new plans. One of the pages has five questions at the bottom and if you click on the last question, it says Verizon customers have options when they upgrade and they can choose their current plan and select from the individual data tiers (not the exact quote, but real close to that)

I also got word on Twitter that new users had the option of the new plans, but did not have to choose them.

Guess we won't really know about the situation for new customers until the 28th.

If you are connecting your tablet and your notebook through your hotspot the charge would only be $20. If you choose to use your phone as your hotspot (Amazon has 7000mah usb battery chargers for $42 http://www.amazon.com/New-Trent-IMP70D-Thunderbolt-Blackberry/dp/B002D4IHYM/ref=pd_cp_e_0 ) you could even drop that $20 off and get down to $140 before your corporate discount. Granted you still loose unlimited data, but really we all knew that was coming some day. The writing was on the wall when they got rid of it as an option. But unless you're using ever MB of your hotspot and 5GB on your phone, what are you really loosing?

I am on a mobile device, but this is an copy and paste from the response I got on Twitter.

@PodcastinatorsM New customers won't have to select Share Everything. It is recommended, but not required. There will be other options. ^DGM -- VZW Support (@VZWSupport)

People can choose what they want to believe regardless of evidence to the contrary. I only got involved because I wanted to help others and stop the misinformation out there.

The more info I read, the more it looks like all the outrage over the new plans was unnecessary...lol.

The thing is....the share everything plans will come out cheaper for new customers if they want unlimited talk n text. I still think the data part of the new plans suck tho. Needs to be bigger amounts. The only real drama about the changes is that and you have to get phones at retail to keep unlimited data.

Yeah, I think the first GB costing $50 is what's messing with most people. Seems like it should have been at least 2GB, but even that still seems stupid. They are going to use the fact that you get unlimited calls and text as the real selling point. For people that is important to it is a real deal. An individual unlimited calling plan with unlimited text starts at $90 before you add a data plan. So 2GB would cost you $120 a month. That price on the share everything gets you 6GB on a smartphone (and free mobile hotspot which would cost you $20 more for 2GB of data). That sounds great, but only if you need that unlimited calling and text, most don't. The plans will be better for some, not as good for others. Our unlimited data was gonna go, one way or another, but the new plans aren't the only plans as some seem to think. If unlimited data is all people care about, they can pay full price for upgrades or buy used phones. At least VZW gives you an option to keep your unlimited.

The way I see the price on the 1 GB plan is to set a starting point for sales to push people to the more expensive plan. I can see them saying "$50 for 1 GB or you can get double the data (2 gb) for ONLY $10 more." :O

Twitter is where the misinformation is coming from.

I've seen Tweets contradicting the one you posted.

Yes, but he ones you were quoting were BEFORE Verizon finally started correcting the bad information their reps had been giving.

When the announcement was first made people panicked and the lazy news media did not help much.. Actually made it worse. So what did people do? They called, went to stores, and went to Twitter. Their people did not know anymore than you or I and were guessing just like everyone else. Finally Verizon began to get the correct information out there but people have seen 100 bad reports for every 1 correct one so people dismissed the truth. Verizon messed up on informing the people who pay attention to these things.

Yeah, store employees are full of crap 90% of the time. The few times I've gone to one of the stores and had to wait, I've heard some of the stupidest most blatant bullcrap from the them.
