Agree on getting used to the notch or punch hole. Was used to the Pixel 3 XL without any issues, same with the iPhones, OnePlus or now with S10.
Personally, I get used to it pretty quick and don't mind, but leaving all functionality or other things aside, speaking just aesthetics I would prefer punch hole over the others.
And also, I switch often between my iPhone and S10, and have no issues seeing the notch there. Personally not a big deal.

but THIS is NOT an "advancement in design". it's a stopgap, so-called 'shiny thing attention grabber' to propagate this whole "bezel-less" hype/trend- until technology catches up and the notch/hole is no longer necessary. in other words, it's samsung riding along with this industry created "selling point" in order to generate buzz and revive flagging phone sales.

What on earth is wrong with the hole punch? Bezel-less phones aren’t a hype or trend, it’s a genuine advance in the industry. Several small steps will equal a sizeable leap...from massive bezels to slimmer bezels, then to the notch and now the hole-punch. If you look at the screen to body ratio of modern phones to just 4/5 years ago it’s been a huge leap.

I’m pretty sure many will agree with me when I say that if Samsung reverts to bezels they will make less money. And an all-screen phone isn’t that hard too hold either...and even if it is for you, then just put a case on it.

And back to the original thread statement/question, the hole punch is infinitely (see what I did there?) better than the notch.

All jokes aside, it takes up less screen space, is smaller and less intrusive. The notch doesn’t bother me that much but I prefer the hole punch.

I agree with you. I've been using my note 9 this week as a second line. It was like using a dinosaur. It was big and had bezels compared to the S10+, the S10+ just fits in my hands better. Note 9 users will understand this with the note 10. I don't even notice the notch or pill, whatever you want to call it.

While I do not care for the design changes, it is more the features that are sacrificed to accomplish it. Not to mention how often I drop my Note 9 because I am trying to avoid screen touches

I'm going to throw my $0.02 in on this.

I have the Galaxy S10+ (for about 3 months now) ... and had an S8+ for nearly 2 years ... and honestly, I still hate the curved edges of the screen with a passion. My opinion is that the "edge" stuff brings nothing to the table that's worth while. I also still MUCH prefer hold my phone(s) by the edges, and can't stand how "sensitively" and "gently" I need to hold my phone due to the curved edges and accidental touches. Yes, I've become accustomed to it, but it's still bad design if you ask me.

I tried an iPhone XS Max for a couple weeks, and really, REALLY loved the "full width" sides vs. the curved thin sides of the S10+. It only served to remind me how much I miss some "meat" on the sides of the phone to hold it. I didn't care for the iPhone vs. the Samsung overall ... but that one feature really stood out to me, and I miss it.

NOTE: The above re: bezel size is based on running the phone WITHOUT a case ... which is my preference. I am currently running my S10+ with a slim case, and it's fine ... no accidental side touches, but that's also because the case creates an acceptable bezel size, so to speak ... and allows me to hold my phone the way I want to hold it.

On that note as well, I don't have a preference for the notch vs. the cut-out hole. It truly makes no difference to me. In fact, I'm not that guy that needs the thinnest phone ... or the biggest screen technologically possible for any given phone body size, etc. I just want a phone that works, is easy to use, intuitive, and is durable. Is that too much to ask for the big companies to focus on for a few years before they focus on innovating tech/features that we really don't need, and don't have any real use more than being a gimmick?

The screen quality was a big difference when comparing the two , s10+ looks much sharper

I want something different and I pass the 1+6t up so this selfie camera I'll end up watching it go up and down until I get bored screen nice also , oxygen OS very solid .

I picked up my s10+ Ceramic today and I have to say the camera eye is not a big deal to me.
If they would have offered the same phone without the "selfie cam" I'd have been all over that.
Wish they would but that means engineering 2 different phones and that isn't fiscally probable.

This is as perfect a phone as I have ever used
