Who's buying the Pixel mostly for the stock Android experience and fast updates?

He has a Note 8.
Yep.

Hence why I said “If I bought a Pixel”.

I likely wouldn’t buy one as a daily because the Note has a lot of features I use on a daily basis, but I’m not ruling out the possibility of playing with one.

I tried the HTC U11 and sent it back because of Sense UI and quite frankly I wasn't impressed with the camera.

Getting the Pixel 2 for the fast updates, camera and the lack of bloat.

The future of Android is fluid. Damn that's tight. If this Ultra Pixel is legitimate, watch out. Anyone remember what camera somewhat sank HTC?

Ultra Pixel Camera... Irony? HTC used to push their ultra pixel cameras.

Yes, stock Android and quick updates. Also, I don't want to buy from carriers even if they offered the same. I pay the carriers enough money. I don't need to spend anymore with them.

I was an Android user then two years ago tried an iPhone. Had to see what was so great. The only positive with Apple is the updates. You always have the most current OS. Not worth the money they charge foe the phone. Thinking of coming back to Android. Wish Samsung would push automatic updates. Will consider Pixel 2 when released, looked at Pixel but wasn’t impressed.

If they step it up with the pixel XL2, I'll probably wind up switching at some point from Samsung.

I have the s8+ and have no real complaints with it, I just wind up using all of Google apps and no Samsung apps.

I do like the edge screen for shortcuts to my most used apps, but it comes with the trade off of not being able to use a screen protector.

Maybe depends on the screen protector? Works fine w/my tempered glass protector.

Yeah, the edge panel is a great feature. I'm sure the next owner of my S8 will agree, once my Pixel XL 2 arrives.

As a Nexus owner, the stock experience and fast updates are the primary reason why I'd buy the Pixel.

And every app is tested and built for your exact hardware. Everything that is remotely up to date always works well.

I never buy Samsung phones. But have read articles about Samsung showing signs of breaking away from Google/Android. They would not survive going up against a pure phone with updates from Google.

There's still a zero chance of that in near future

Considering the majority of people buy Android because of Samsung, I'm not so sure about that. I don't see them breaking away anytime soon though.

I agree. The majority of people buy the phone because it's Samsung, not because it's an Android. It seems like this rumor has been around for awhile, so I don't know how much stock I put in it, but I see it as completely possible. The majority of the cell phones users are sheep, so if they did this, they would be fine.

Well, they would be fine only if ... They don't need the Google Play Store, Gmail, Google Photos, Google Maps, Google Drive, Google Docs, etc, etc, etc I doubt most people would like that much (Especially no Play Store)

It's as close to impossible, for now, as anything we can imagine.

Samsung is the largest Android oem, not the majority.
My bad. Largest by a big margin though, correct? A lot of the other manufacturers can't even make money off of it, such as HTC and LG. As far as most people are concerned, especially in the US, Samsung is Android. The amount of Pixels sold by Google is nothing compared to the numbers Samsung is doing. But I don't see Samsung leaving the ecosystem. It's working out well for them.

I only buy Google phones....since the Galaxy Nexus. Current phone is the N6, it's not getting O and it's showing it's age. So although I mainly by for the software experience and updates, I'm looking forward to a better camera.

Exactly. Google blocked YouTube from the Amazon Echos. Word is Google has a similar product on the way so no YouTube for Amazon. Talking about HIMARS fired by Google. Amazon is like what can we do to resolve this issue? What rule did we violate? Google went completely silent and didn't even respond. They are straight savages at Google. Google lures you into their ecosystem, then cut you off and watch you slowly decline.

Has anyone ever used Tizen? Would you use a pure Tizen phone?
