Why are Nexus phones better (and more expensive) than tablets?

So the Nexus 4 had a greater PPI than the 2012 Nexus 7, and it's also faster with better specs. The Nexus 5 has 445 freakin' PPI and the 2013 Nexus 7 only 323. WTF? Does the Nexus 5 have better specs than the Nexus 7, too? It makes more sense to give the device with a bigger screen a higher PPI.

Also, I've always wondered... why are the Nexus phones so much more expensive?

They use standard resolutions, so the tablets will always have a lower PPI than the phones. Cellular radios are part of the reason for the price gap. There is a $120 price gap between the 16 GB Nexus 7 and the 16 GB Nexus 5, but there is only a $50 difference between the LTE Nexus 7 32 GB and the Nexus 5 32 GB. The other part of the price difference is miniaturization. Smaller parts cost more and it is more difficult to engineer a smaller device than a larger one.

Nexus phones are quite reasonably priced compared to other similar unlocked smartphones.

Better? This time too the hardware is of LG. it can't be better hardware wise as compared to other flagship phones. Weak antennas etc
