Why are some of my files on Google drive grayed out and I can't open them and inaccessible

Some files in my Google drive are greyed out and I cannot access or open them to pick a profile picture

Welcome to Android Central! Is this on your Google Drive app on your phone? Can you access those files on the Google Drive website on your computer?

Are these files saved locally on your phone, or only in your Google Drive cloud?

Were the files from apps that were uninstalled?

Greyed out in Drive means a recently deleted file, likely still in trash for its 30 days. Look in trash for a match. This is a problem with Drive, that the "Remove" tab has no "are you sure" backup, and accidents are all too easy, especially in that things can be deleted from Docs as folder and/or open document, and in Drive with a single touch.
If no result there, the only Google C.S. just happens to be the Drive team, which can be accessed thru Help while in Drive.
