Manage labels was the fix for me too! Thanks so much, I was about to do the whole delete accounts, reset phone thing as well but this saved me from that.

To those that are having this problem, here's what I noticed on my end. If I sent an email to myself from the default Mail client on my Mac (signed in to gmail) my phone did not receive a notification. If I sent an email by logging into Gmail on the Safari browser, the phone received the notification right away (in one case, before appearing in the Safari Gmail window). I also sent an e-mail from Hotmail by login into the Outlook.com website in Safari. I recede the notification right away. So it is possible that the Gmail app does not properly recognize e-mails not sent from certain clients in the same way. Maybe they are not signed somehow (I'm not a developer or programmer, so somebody else can chime in).
The phone was off the charger and WiFi was turned on. It's a 64GB version on Fido.
Also, my notify me for every e-mail is ticked off, so that doesn't make a difference.
My issue is that I get my gmail first on my iphone 6 then 20 seconds later it pops up on my S6...... Then again my mails get to me faster on my iphone 6 yet my S6 is faster on all speedtest test. My S6 also load pages faster on chrome so I'm not sure what the deal is.
Well I got it from Swappa so it would just go back up for sale. But this can't go on for much longer. I need emails for work.Do not return your phone, it will happen to all the newer phones. It is a known issue and being resolved as we speak, be patient, i saw this over a month ago and now there might be a resolution. Can't discuss details yet. Will keep this post updated when it takes affect.
So that would make me believe that it is a hardware issue, right? If you can swap phones until you get one that works flawlessly and Samsung obviously hasn't updated anything, then how could that be software? After returning 3 Galaxy S6's I finally got one that the push notifications work perfect on.
Then why doesn't it affect all phones and also hits all carriers? I'm totally confused. It's been on two of my S6 and S6 Actives, both in AT&T.It is not a hardware problem, there are a few issues but it is software issues and related to the carrier. Again there is a resolution in work, be patient. I will update when i get more info.
