Why can't i adjust the volume from the lock screen

So I'm using an s7 active. I notice that I wasn't able to adjust the volume from the lock screen unless something is playing. I was wondering if there any way to change that. If so what do I need to do and does it require me to root my phone.

Welcome to the forums. I think this is a limitation placed by Samsung. I can adjust my volume on my Pixel, so it's not a general Android thing.

Is this something that can be solved by rooting the device? Possibly. Just root won't allow you to do it, but if there is an application or modification, you will need root access to make it work.
