Why can't I find a Nexus 7 without screen lift issues ?

My original 16 gb didn't have it, but had a piece of dust under the screen. Exchanged it and the new one was already previously used. Finger prints all over the plastic cover and the black sticker said "void open", but didn't have the screen issue either.

I got walmart to give me the 32 gb for 225, and that doesn't have it either. Sorry to hear about your luck

Oh, and by the way, what you are describing isn't screen lift issue. Any display will ripple if you push hard enough on it. Why are you pushing that hard anyway? Do your self a favor and just return it and go back to using a black and white device.

I wasn't in any way pressing "hard on the screen" but since the screen lift means you actually have to use a slightly heavier touch, to get the device to react to what should be a fairly soft input, doesnt make using the device a satisfying experience. Some of the 16gb versions I rejected, the left hand side glass was clearly visible above the bezel and there's no way that's normal spec, for this or any other machine.

Sadly there does seem to be some people who are very overprotective of the device as they were lucky enough to get a "good one", but there are also sadly a number of people who comment and are, without cause, rude to the OP, who in most cases, would love to be able to find a unit that was of adequate build quality.

We didnt buy it simply to return it.We bought it to use and enjoy and our definition of acceptable build quality may be different than yours, but that doesnt make us wrong and you right.

I cant find any justification for being rude and abusive to people who ask genuine questions about other peoples experiences of a device.Isn't that the purpose of a forum ?

What are you talking about? The screen lift had nothing to do with having to touch harder. All it is is the bottom left corner is slightly higher than the rest. That's it. It doesn't effect use at all. Idk where you got your information.

Sorry for all the posts. Too lazy to edit on my phone

Ok here is the deal folks. Look for C80 code. That's the only one that doesn't have the lift. They have also changed the packaging slightly. Now instead of 2 tape seals , it comes in 1 seal and the box has dimples on both sides to make it easier to unbox.
You can thank me later for this important info :-)

I noticed the tape change. My original one had to pieces on the sides the new ones only have one.

Which number has the C80? Do I look at the p/n, cssn, or ssn? Also, I have the 32gb version. Are these known to have that issue too? Thanks.

Rude? Perhaps. Abusive? Oh my god.

Anyways, if anything, I was being blunt. It's a $200 tablet. if you want a tablet with great build quality, get an ipad. or a $500 tablet. The Nexus 7 is not for you. I find it absolutely ridiculous to exchange 6 tablets. And I find it ridiculous that any store would let you abuse it. That's not me being rude, it's just me being straight up. There's using a warranty/exchange policy, and then there's abusing it. Maybe all 6 (soon to be 7) nexus 7's were 'defective'. whatever. if that's seriously the case, you're the unluckiest guy. ever. EVAR,

And i'm not being overprotective. my n7 has screen lift. but I don't care. it's not noticeable. it's in a case, and it doesn't affect the touch screen.

Good day.

I've only had one N7, a C70 model. I didn't notice any screen lift when I opened it, but after hearing the anguished howls here, I checked and discovered a tiny bit. I pressed it down and it's stayed down since.

Unfortunately, it's now developed BSS, blown speaker syndrome. ASUS has agreed to fix it, but I confess, you've all put fear in my heart. What if fixing the speaker creates screen lift? Will I be able to live with myself?

I got my N7 at my local staples the other day. They got a fresh new batch this past week for the holiday push.

No screen lifts and device is perfect in every way.

Just a suggestion.

I don't understand why some people get so aggressive just because others are having legitimate problems with their devices. It's ridiculous to be so overprotective of a certain brand as to excuse such a glaring issue as a major component like the screen slightly severing from the body of the device. It was $200, so what? That may be chump change to some folks, but for others, it may be one to two days' worth of hard work.

I would have done absolutely the same thing as the OP did. If I detected a problem like that the moment after unboxing the device, I would have had no way of knowing if it would become a problem down the line and I'm not willing to gamble away my 14-day return and exchange privilege just to wait it out.

The Nexus 7 isn't some third-rate tablet made by some fly-by-night no-name company in China, nor was it marketed as such. It is made by Asus, one of the largest PC vendors in the world, and backed by Google, arguably one of the most powerful tech companies ever. Unless you're willing to concede that buying Nexus products will always inherently come with a "you get what you pay for" caveat, then stop excusing manufacturing problems like these and hold ALL companies (not just some that you happen to loathe) accountable to their customers.

Well here goes! Have had my Nexus 7 32GB for 6 weeks now, and was well impressed with the performance looks etc, except the casing would randomly creak. This morning I picked up the device to spot a series of fine cracks spraying out and across from one point on the mid left side right across to the other! The machine hasn't been dropped or bent etc, could this have been caused by the screen being too tight, hence the creaking?

I agree that those who have gone through 5, 6, 7, 8 or more tablets are ridiculously nitpicky and probably the kind of people that are never happy with anything. I got my 32GB for Christmas and there is no "screen lift". BTW it's a CAOK.

I have a Nexus 7 with a tiny bit of screen lifting. I can't even notice it when it's in the case. I'm perfectly content with it. I'm glad I'm not picky. Makes things easier for me :)
