Why can't we get top specs in a normal Size???

Comparing a 7in tablet to a 4in phone is way different than comparing a 4in phone to a 4.8 in phone. The phone is a completely different experience to the tablet. A bigger screen in a phone is a smaller increase which makes it much less of a negative impact on general use compared to a device that has to be held differently. IMO.

No, you missed what I meant. I'm not comparing a 4in phone to a 7in tablet. I'm saying that they compliment each other better than having a 4.8 in phone and a 7in tablet. I simply meant that even with a 7in tablet, i still find myself using my phone more. With a 4.8in beast, I'd have even less use for a tablet.

Okay then I would ask you why you would want or need a tablet if your larger phone serves both purposes? I hear lots of iPhone users saying how it's great having a smaller phone because it's complimentary with their bigger iPad yet if you had a bigger phone maybe you don't need a tablet and can save some money.

But you lose practicality, better mobility and u end up with slower communication, texting, msging, etc. Everything we talk about has trade offs.

A tablet serves more mediacentric needs where a phone is or should be more communications first, media second. And no one has ever claimed that u just can't do media on a 4in device.

This kinda of touches a little on the whole function over form debate in that the functions on communications and mobility become hampered by the desire to design big (form), for the secondary purpose of the device....

And just as those spew their opinions on how oems do market research, Apple does so too. They are a business and they still have to sell phones. And they do it well, and its not just an ios ecosystem. Everything related to design is part of their philosophy and customers are eating it up. They're doing something right and android oems need to take notice that quality in a compact form is in in 2012.

But this logic is only your opinion. People work and act differently. One persons benefit is another person's annoyance.

Apple doesn't research as much as delegate what they think is best. You can see this clearly by what Steve Jobs has said in the past. Things like "no one would ever buy a phone over 4 inches" clearly shows that they didn't do their research. It doesn't mean they won't continue to sell phones but by limiting their os in how their apps were designed they have no choice at this point but stay at the size they are at. Their apps can't scale, so they have no options. Even the video playback doesn't fit the full screen most of the time.

If the HTC One S has sold 60% of the one X then I'm sure the manufacturers would take notice but small devices are just not as popular right now with the majority of users. You can't use apple as an example because there is only one option. I've said it before. If Apple releases a 4.8 in phone and it doesn't sell as well as the 4 inch then you win. But until that happens we can only look at Android phones and the sales of high quality smaller devices just isn't as good.

But if you already invested heavily in the ios ecosystem, apps, accessories, docks, lighning converters , iTunes, your very unlikely to switch regardless of your want for a bigger screen or even a change of pace as its expensive to swich ecosystems at times. I know im invested roughly $100 in android with apps gbooks gmusic and such. Its not only about screen size when dealing with another os. And again apple did right... Back in 2007 which built a name and a craze which may have locked in many's fate. You cant say a majority of iPhone owners are happy with a 4in screen jyst because they own one. Just like you cant say all US skyrocket owners are happy with the Qualcomm chip over exynos just because we own one you completely miss the point we repeatedly make that being there is far more than one reason for every choice screen size will be a factor for some but not likely the majority oh and by the way im typing this one handed so your communication statement debunked

You know the sales goes both ways, large screen phones are selling as well. It's not like OEMs are making bigger phones just for the fun of it, people clearly want them as well.

I should have explained what I meant better but I was in a spirited sports debate at the barber shop.

I mean I could easily mirror all that's said here to say why doesn't Apple put out a larger iPhone. There is a large market for those phones and Apple's marketing can easily swipe a lot of current Android users especially the users that bought a crappy large Android. But like I said way earlier in this thread why not make a smaller high end phone for users who actually do care about the specs? Just more choices to play around with.
