If that doesn't help, go to Google Contacts, look in More for Restore contacts.. and you can restore deleted contacts that have been deleted in up to the last month. (Assuming that you entered your contacts as Google contacts, not as the default Phone contacts - don't ask me why that's the default, I didn't write the app).

If they're not at the website, you'll have to enter them all again. First export your contacts, then import them - as your Google account contacts (you'll be given the choice when you import them). Then add the missing ones - as Google contacts. (And make sure that you sync contacts in your Google account on the phone.) Then you'll always have your accounts saved to the cloud if anything happens on the phone (or if you get a new phone).
