Why did you choose to own a Android device?

Another reason why I prefer Android...

The only new exciting phones being built are Android phones.

Everything else is old technology and boring

Really... How so..?

What is new on the iPhone or Windows phone?

A bigger screen on the iPhone ... Big deal..
No flagship Windows phone... SSDD..

If you want new and exciting.. get a Android.. You want old and boring.... get anything else.

The A8 is such a powerful chip. You know what? I would love to get into this with you but there would be no point

Your right.. It is a great chip, but unfortunately nothing really to get excited over since it residing in a underwhelming boring rehash of yesterday's designed phone.

Did they improve the sound quality as well as what is available on a Android phone ?

Did they improve the screen quality as well as on a Android phone?

Did they improve the camera quality as well as what is available on a Android phone?

Like I said... Boring and underwhelming

They actually wreck other Android flagships in terms of camera quality, screen quality doesn't have to be just about pixels of course. Contrast, Blacks/Whites, brightness etc are way more important and yes the iPhone 6 excels in that.

Sound quality? I think it's tough to beat the One. HTC did a seriously impressive job on that. But yes compared to non boom sound phones, the iPhone 6 speakers are right up there

Sorry... That's just not true.

Asia One Digital just did a nice review and the iPhone got blown away by the Note 4 camera and your right there is a lot that goes into the display and with what is available on Android.. the iPhone pales by comparison.

lesser of two evils. Its not exactly freedom as in FREEEEEDOMMM!, but surely much better than iOS.

I got tired of squinting at my BlackBerry's tiny screen. By the time I was ready to switch, I had heard rumblings of the Samsung Galaxy S that was supposed to be pretty sweet. I picked up my Vibrant and was blown away by Android. I loved that it had some similarities to the Danger OS (as it should, Andy Rubin helped create both) which I had used for 3 years prior to the BlackBerry, so the learning curve was really easy. I had a love/hate relationship with the Vibrant itself, but after a few months I picked up the MyTouch 4G which was quite a little powerhouse for its time. I've been loving Android ever since.

You really might want to check out the Note 4. The screen is the best I've ever seen (and plenty bright, I can have it at around 50% full brightness on battery saver mode which dims the screen further and see perfectly in direct sunlight), the camera won in a blind test (Samsung Galaxy Note 4 wins our blind camera comparison, iPhone 6 is distant second), and the speakers seem just as loud as the speakers on my M8, despite them being on the back.

OK.

Why would you put speakers on the back of the phone? And bad ones at that.

That to me is one of my GS5s fatal flaws

I bet its for the water proof thing.

I didn't read people complaining of the speaker, whats your experience?

I'm a linux user on the desktop, and since android is linux based, it just makes more sense to me. Plus, I never really liked anything microsoft or apple related.

Just so long as you understand that is your opinion and one that may indeed be in the minority of worldwide phone smartphone users.

I piddled and paddled with Linux in the past but just recently decided to up the dabbling since I have a couple extra very capable laptops and VMWARE on a powerful desktop wks. Opensuse 13.1 and Ubuntu 13.01. They're okay but neither feels a kin to my android phones.

No I don't think so.

This is the current state of Windows phone. This is not to say that it won't change, but right now.

As to being in the minority of smartphones users that is not the case now or in any perceivable future. All of the latest processors, GPU chipsets radio chipsets cameras screens reside on Android phones, and is a major issue with a ton of people here. There is no really good reason for this. The excuse that they don't need these things is just an excuse nothing more. Technology is what drives the market and the people who are buying phones.

If there is nothing to get excited about and everything is just as some here have said before a rehash of past equipment.... then it's nothing to get excited about or have a buzz going on on the tech sites.... It's Apple all over again.

My wife and many like her couldn't possibly care less about what processor in her phone. She only cares about the experience she's having and if that good experience is provided by a little hamster running in a wheel her and many others couldn't possibly care less. What CPU and GPU our phones have is of interest to enthusiasts and geeks...and it is my opinion that they do not make up the majority of smartphone users.

Likewise -- I plan on having the gf get the iPhone 6 ... she just wants a good camera... Then after that as long as facebook, candy crush, etc. works .. she is happy. Oh and speaker phone...

Haalcyon -- Can you comment on speaker phone? I haven't used iPhone in a long time .. It is still good right? On the 6?
