Why do people buy Samsung Galaxy Phones?

No, he said, "Cost effective." and that they were more concerned with the look than the feel. This was around the release of the GS4. It's also software though. Touchwiz, proven to be the slowest software of the upper end of Android. The only area they lead in is specs and outside of screen, they're not far enough ahead and don't have enough exclusives to justify the purchase. Even as such, I'd like to see the Lumia 930 or Icon's screen pitted against the Galaxy S5.

Either display from my own experience probably pales in comparison to Samsung's. Out of all things, Samsung makes some of the displays on the market, I suggest you take a peek at Phonearena's comparison of the S5 vs phones like the 5S in outdoor visibility, by far the best display out of the bunch was the Galaxy S5s.

I always had an affinity for AMOLED displays though. My Moto X and RAZR M can attest to that.

IMO, no other screen beats the S5 screen, except maybe the outside visibility.

Did you not read the text above the video?

You mean iClarify's own text that did not actually originate from Square Trade at all? No, I didn't read that. Because that's not the source. Thats a fanboy's opinion at best, an outright lie at worst.

Can I start using Android sites as sources for Android superiority now? LOL

Let me explain it to you: The actual source iClarify is quoting does not say what iClarify is claiming. That is why I cannot accept them as a real source for your claim. You are basically just quoting an Apple fan site's opinion on the test.

Then how did the 5s get the best rating? 5.5 beats 6, and that is Squaretrade's numbers, regardless of who reports them.

I will give it to Samsung, the color reproduction finally doesn't look too cartoony in the S5. It's pretty impressive but the outdoor visibility leaves something to be desired for me. It's overall a great display, they've been making great displays for some time and I've always loved AMOLED tech but I honestly think that the Lumia 1520 screen can give it a run for it's monkey. The polarization used in their clear black displays is phenomenal and due to the curvature the viewing angles are insane.

Market share means little in relation to quality. I could bring up the iPhone or even the moto E there again, as I did, both of which are much better off in that regard than the galaxy S5/Note 3

That's your opinion

1) As far as I know, there have never been Samsung Droid phones. Droid was a branding owned by Verizon, and while it was applied to phones from Moto, LG and HTC, I don't recall any Samsung phones being branded as Droid.

2) The Droid line had nothing to do with success of Samsung...if anything they were competitors. The Droid line (mostly the Motorola Droid) greatly exposed Android in general to the public, which might have benefited Samsung indirectly (but would have benefited it's Android competition just as much).

3) Lots of people liked the Galaxy series...it continued to sell more with each iteration. You would not be seeing MORE people buying the Galaxy S2 if people hated the Galaxy S1. It did have some problems, but no more than other Android phones at the time did. The Galaxy series pioneered AMOLED displays, culminating in the Galaxy S5, which has the best display of any smartphone Displaymate has ever tested. Yes, better than the iPhone.

The Galaxy Series most certainly was responsible for Samsung's rise through Android, and Smartphones general. Their success was not an accident, and not based on "cool factor" status or advertising. They delivered a product people wanted. Until the Galaxy S4 even I was cheerleading them, and I despise touchwiz.

Whoops I meant to say android. The droid line and verizons $$/marketing were what put android as a household name and got users interested. Also the droid charge was the one and only samsung droid if I remember correctly.

The Droid line was Motorola. So no. No it didn't The droid line was a Verizon exclusive and had passable marketing that was memorable. HTC was never really king of Android after the G1/Dream. Once Motorola stole the spotlight, HTC never really got it back. It was passed from them to the Samsung Galaxy S which was widely regarded as the first real iPhone alternative since most OEMs were still trying to make these complex and ridiculous designs work where Samsung just kinda copied what worked. The Galaxy S series certainly wasn't hated. It was an international hit. Your info is generally wrong.

Nope, no licensing fees on any Windows device smaller than nine inches screen space.

There's a native google play client that is actually much better than the official Google play store on BBOS devices. I think they call it Droid Store or something. You can install your Google services via APK or through this system with great ease.

I've yet to post misinformation. Just because you don't see the lag doesn't mean it's not there. I do post about Android's flaws often in hopes that they might improve it because I would like the OS to mature in terms of user experience to the point that I could use it again. It'd be pleasant. They're making progress with Project Svelte but that just trimmed the fat. Clean it up a little bit and make it a better social OS and odds are I will be sold.

You do the same, thank you.

They have to pay MS for the patents that every android OEM does. I know they don't have to pay to use WP anymore. Also without the droid line, most likely android would not be where it is at today. The droid line was the first time carriers put their weight behind it. There have been lots of droids that weren't moto (droid incredible/2/lte, droid charge, droid eris, etc) up until last year when moto became the only droid manufacturer.

Not when making a Windows Phone device and when they aren't, they pay 1/4 the cost just for being a windows Phone OEM

It's an out-of-context quote at best. The reason for the slight edge to the iPhone 5S was size...they felt larger phones were at slightly higher risk. In their own video they clearly stated the S5 was the best one.

Thanks for finally providing a real source instead of yet another fan site though. Lets see if we can make it a trend.

Actually with you there. I'd take a 5S before I'd take an S5 but I know full well the 5S pretty much falls apart for looking at it wrong. I want some of the machines they used to test though.

Samsung admits to cutting costs and using the cheap plastic that's easiest to mass produce. They also have the laggiest high end android devices.

I love when people complain about the 'cheap plastic' that Samsung uses for their devices. You know what most people do with their 'premium' aluminium iPhones and HTC phones? They take them out of the box, play with it for a few minutes, and then put it in a 'cheap plastic' case that never comes off again.

I suppose Nokia spoils me. :-p Doesn't change the fact that you shouldn't pay a premium price for a phone that's cutting such major corners.

Considering a good portion of Samsung devices are bought on contract so....
