Why do people buy Samsung Galaxy Phones?

The problem is there though. The battery pulls I had to do, the cheap plastics (I don't use cases, ever) the incessant lag. Look at it this way, my cousin had never seen snow before. Ever. Not til he was 17. When he did, he moved to Colorado. Was he wrong for having seen snow in the first place and moreso for enjoying it enough that he moved? That's how it was with the lag, the bugs, the malware, all the faults in Android for me.

Oh wow.

Well that one was not out of context
It was out of context because you ignored the video and focused on the statement you wanted.

At best, this video proves Samsung is as durable as the iPhone. So all arguments about Samsung build quality are dead. Samsung's cheap plastic is every bit as good as your precious metal body.

Even if it is, it took them 5 versions to get there. Pitiful for a flagship, IMO.

See my post above. I've also had 2 x Nokia 1520's and every iPhone produced. Yeah, I may have a phone addiction thing problem...but still I enjoy my current S5 and Note 3 as much as anything I've had and don't see any more lag on them. Malware? Android I've heard of it but never seen it for myself on any of my devices.

Malware was more prevalent a few years back, biggest case I remember is when someone stole the full Guitar Hero World Tour app, made it free and loaded it with a ton of malware. There are still thousands upon thousands of apps in the play store that have malware though. I believe it was around 42,000 last year.

I have phones from all different OSes myself. I have a 5S, a 1520, a 1020, a Moto X, a Nokia N9, an HTC HD2 which boots like a half dozen OSes, a Jolla Phone and will soon have a Z10 as Groupon had them very cheap. That's what I have at present, I've had way too many phones to speak of and from the G1 was a pretty big fandroid. Worshipped it up to the Dell Streak which is when I got my hands on Windows Phone which I thought I hated til I went back to Android... Missed having Netflix on a phone, missed Xbox live integration, missed the lag-free experience, missed real social networking integration in an OS... I went back quick and since then, haven't really had any reason to go back. Nokia was icing on the cake since I think most will agree that they make some truly premium devices. There was even a thread on iMore not long ago with people talking about how they wanted their OS on Nokia phones.

I have owned a lot of Android phones, and have not had many lag problems since Jelly Bean. The glaring exception is a S4 that I had, which was very laggy, even with Nova launcher installed.

Is it a giant marketing thing or are the general public that stupid ?? I've used the s2 and s3 and didn't get it back then. The design is awful they all look pretty much the same, they feel cheap and plastic for an apparent high end phone and even the UI looks tacky I'm sorry but when paying this money aesthetics matter, especially when the internals are fairly similar at this level. I just think it's laziness on behalf of the consumer who'll buy one just coz its a Samsung....

(I'm removing the note series from this as I've never used or held one to make any judgement)

What does it matter to you what people buy.. It's their money right? They work hard for it so IMO I don't anything you say really matters... Everyone has their on opinion on what they like.

My BF has an S3. It is stock and not rooted. It is VERY fast and smooth. I'll post a video on here.

In developer options there are two options to force GPU rendering of the UI...once you enable these, it is a night and day difference. It works on any Android phone, but the difference is especially noticeable on samsung phones.

Once he gets Kitkat installed and I can convert it over to ART, I am expecting even better improvements.

I've said this so many times over the past couple of years but since this same identical exact precise discussion just recycles here goes...both iOS and Android offer so much, one is not better than the other (Jeff, you've gone at legnth about why and how you disagree). Both OS' do things a bit differently and so appeal to different people or the same people at different times (myself included). iOS will get that reasonably sized screen sooner or later despite what zombie Jobs may wish. There are folks that are blindly loyal to either platform (I'm married to an iPhone loyalist) and that does annoy to no end. My better half does not embrace change or variety so much so it is the 'iPhone and only the iPhone...forever!' I can't identify with that mentality and it couldn't be any more irrelevant which platform copied/stole/borrowed/cloned what from another. The ONLY thing that matters to me is what platform works best for me...at that particular time. It seems counter productive to limit thyself to just one.

The 42000 was a grand total BY 2013 not IN 2013. The source was also a company that sells security and was never backed up by Google themselves. It's never been confirmed. RiskIQ has never even been a reliable source. I pointed all of this out already in your own thread and I thought you had seen it.

I remember you mentioning your belief that all of the points all these people have been presenting you are just opinions but I've seen numerous facts handed to you by several members ( Do you simply choose to ignore them I wonder?) while you counter with videos by opinionated sources and links to sources with questionable motives who haven't been confirmed by anyone official.

My S3 worked better than my S4.

I think the software for the S4 may have been a bit immature at release. I think the S4 prolly works exceedingly well at this point in its life.

The FFC on the S4 is a massive disappointment. I'll say that much... It really was the worst phone I ever owned though. I don't really hate Android but I truly loathe Samsung. Never been treated so poorly by a company nor have I heard such ridiculous policies (Oh, the charger we sent you doesn't work? Send the whole phone with proof of purchase back in and we'll exchange the charger!) nor have I used something that felt so abhorrently cheap.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience.

Well then how wonderful for you that you have so many other hardware and software configurations to choose from with Android. Problem solved 😃

Since Google commented on the statement, don't you feel as though they'd have spoken out otherwise if it weren't the case?

Case of what? That a "security" company is willing to do unfounded research on Googles product? Of course they have to comment otherwise people like you and the media tale it and run with it without thinking on the source of the information.
