Why does google drive take up so much internal storage

[Android Central Question]

I Google it, the option for offline viewing is off bit why does it still count as internal storage ? Same for my SD card. Am using samsung A8+.
Its driving me crazy, can you please help

Welcome to Android Central! If you use Google Drive a lot, the cache and data will build up over time. You can always periodically clear the cache/data -- when you open the app again, it'll start syncing with your Drive in the cloud again.
