Why does my Asus Android Tablet download podcasts but not replay offline?

For many months, years actually, I had no problems downloading podcasts and then when on the road and parked up, listening to them offline.
Suddenly this stopped and now although my programmes are shown as downloaded they will only replay if I am online.
A brief message flashes to say I must download to replay, but that is what I have done.
Another message said either memory was full or I hadn't an sd card inserted, so I bought one and inserted it. No different, I searched and found an option to save everything to sd card, but this doesn't work and another message flashed up saying something about since kitkat this is no longer possible.
As this is the only use I have for the thing it is very irritating.

Email the developer (the email should be at the bottom of the app's page in the Play store) and ask. Although I'm afraid that if they're still referring to the KitKat change, the app is no longer supported, and you may just have to find a newer podcast app. (An app can create a folder on the SD card, then it can save all its files there, it just can't save files to another app's folder. Maybe the app's developer didn't understand that.)
