Why does my LG G4 keep shutting down?

I have the same exact problem. But now, it will load up to the Lg loading screen, then goes black, and I have to leave the battery out for a couple hours before putting it in again and trying to boot it up again.

My LG G4 has done turned itself off a couple of times in the past month or so. Usually waiting or removing the battery would start it up again.
Last night it simply turned off and won't start back up.
I've tried everything suggested on this post, including the factory reset but sadly nothing has worked for me.
Incidentally, the only way I could get to do a factory reset was to remove the battery, plug the phone in, wait for the phone to say "oi, where's your battery", put the battery back in and then press the relevant button combinations.
The factory reset crashed out the first two attempts (to which I had to perform the battery removal/plug it in trick each time) but on the third it worked. I thought I was getting somewhere when the phone booted up to the LG setup screen but it then crashed there, too.
Since then, the phone has been bricked. Nothing (not even removing the battery) will get a response.
O2 are kindly sending a replacement, which is great as it's a gem of a phone.

Re:

Thank you. Removing the Micro SD card worked. Yesterday; I moved a lot picts and videos t the SD card; maybe I put too much on. Brian

Re:

I'm not sure if this will help anybody, but I had a similar problem where my G4 would shut off and not turn on unless I either removed the battery or connected a charger. I found that this happened when the left side of the back of the phone was tapped or had pressure applied (like in a pocket). I notices that there are electrical contacts on that side of the phone (I'm guessing for wireless charging?) and I tried putting a bit of electrical tape over the contact and, voila, my phone looks longer shuts off when bumped! Time will tell if this is the only cause of shutdowns for me. Hope this helps somebody out there!

Re: why does my lg g4 keep shutting down

Start looking for another phone. This will happen to G4 handsets regardless of what people tell you about it's release date. They don't deal with heat well and eventually they burn out and will not turn back on.

Happening to me as well. Googling around for solutions but can't find anything good and this thread is high on results. Really annoyed because LG is the only company making phones with the features I care about (sd card, removeable battery, root community). Just gonna throw in my experience: It happens roughly once a day via normal use. One thing I noticed is that Textra and Chomp both started causing it to happen every time they were opened. I switched to Google Messenger, which only occasionally triggers it. It still happens on other screens as well, but wondering what about Textra could cause it. I'm thinking the ad?
I tried going to the LG site to request a repair, but my model number (H815) doesn't appear on the list. I went for that one because I didn't wanna deal with carrier bloat... I tried using a QuickCircle case, which caused it to reboot more often, particularly any time I received a text message. I know this is most likely a hardware fault of some sort, but the correlation is rather high so I thought I'd mention it in case others noticed something like that as well.

I just purchased an LGG4 in November 2016, refurbished on Ebay. I usually don't use a flash, so when I did today I discovered the phone went black and I couldn't turn it on or off. I had to remove the battery. I thought this was a fluke, but it happened three more times in succession. Luckily, I was within the period where I could return the phone, which I am doing. Otherwise, it was a nice phone, but this is a deal-breaker, so I am going back to my old Samsung Galaxy with the cracked screen.

I just purchased an LGG4 in October 2016, refurbished, on Ebay. I usually don't use the camera with a flash, so when I did today I discovered the phone went black and I couldn't turn it on or off. I had to remove the battery and re-insert it to get the phone to re-start. I thought this was a fluke, but it happened three more times in succession. Luckily, I was within the period where I could return the phone to the Ebay vendor, which I am doing. Otherwise, it was a nice phone, but this is a deal-breaker, so I am going back to my old Samsung Galaxy with the cracked screen. Sigh.

The same thing is happening to mine. I am on my LG G4 second phone as well. It started acting up weeks ago and now the screen just went black and it will not turn on at all for me.

So I plugged my G4 in to charge last night and after awhile it just powered down. I thought maybe an update got pushed but then it got stuck in a loop eventually getting stuck at the LG splash screen. I removed the battery and the SD card and tried to power it on and it would not even power on. I again pulled the battery out and held down the power button for a few seconds to just make sure I could discharge and remaining power. I let it set connected it to the charger, got the screen indicating the battery was missing, and then replaced the battery. It started to boot and even made it all of the way up. After less than a minute it shut down again and again got stuck at the splash screen. Repeated the process and eventually made it in to safe mode. It stay up a little longer in safe mode but it will always shut itself down. I have gone in to safe mode to try and backup anything that may not have been backed up yet. Any ideas before I do a factory reset?

Re: why does my lg g4 keep shutting down

World of advice for all of you. Never buy ANYTHING from LG again. Not a phone! Not a TV. Nothing!

Re:

Omg! Just found this site after googling as to why my lgg4 keeps shutting down, it's been doing it for a couple of days now, it turns off then back on again but as my updates are automatically updated I'm not sure when any updates were done, it does seem to me after reading other threads that an update has caused some glitch, I'm just hoping it sorts itself out

I just got my G4 a couple days ago. first couple days it seemed OK, now its constantly crashing. it doesn't matter what screen I'm on, sometimes it even crashes when its just sitting!

so I did the factory reset and still no luck. crashed while just doing the initial setup! :(

clearly the outlook is not good and I will be sending it back
