Why does my Revvl+5g keep messing up my messages and adding a location URL when I send a message?

Android Central Question

So, I type out a message, hit send, and its fine when I hit send but then all of a sudden once its delivered, it gets jumbled and adds a url hyperlink from google maps. Some like "maps.google.com/maps?q=loc"
It adds it right in the middle of a paragraph, and jumbles my message up and its INFURIATING. Ive tried finding a way to disable hyperlinks but cant seem to even find an option for it. Can someone help please?

Re: Why does my t mobile revvl keep putting a hairdresser for dreadlocks in my messages

If you're looking for a good texting app other than default, I recommend Textra.

Re: Why does my t mobile revvl keep putting a hairdresser for dreadlocks in my messages

Like 70% of the time, when I'm texting, & it doesn't matter if it's long or short, I get a location added in like right smack in the middle of my text, taking three quarters of it out which makes me have to rewrite it. I have tried all the steps I've read on here and yet the phone is still doing it!!! It's getting aggravating and frustrating!!!! I don't even like having to text anything anymore! Please help! Like I said, I've tried everything on here so far that it's been suggested and I don't know what else to do.

Welcome to Android Central! I merged your post into the existing thread about this issue.

Hi,

I'm using an S22 recently updated to One UI 5 and just started seeing this issue. It's not limited to text messages though (I use Textra), it's also cropped up in comments I've made in Google Docs and I REALLY hate it! I've tried all the suggestions I could find in this and other threads with no luck. It does NOT persist in safe mode.

Does anyone have a clue what's causing this??

I have a BRAND NEW FONE,&it too is removing some of my SMS text & attaching a map when I hit send! (

some places are out of state, & all are totally random places that I've never heard of!)- & I can't figure out why it's doing it,or how to fix it! I know I DID NOT tell it to do this!& I'm using the default SMS app that came with my fone. Its a T-Mobile REVVL-V Android.

Hi Folks,

I'd like to join the group of users who are noting the same weird phenomena with their Revvl phone. I was searching for an answer to that very frustrating problem. A URL with location (google map) is randomly inserted in my text, usually a longer one and replacing and scrambling the remaining text (words). Not specifically mentioning a particular location. Its happening more frequently in past few weeks.

I scrolled thru some of the forums suggestions, but I can't find in my message app settings any of the choices the forum mentions: I see NO choices to turn locations on or off, etc. Was on hold with T Mobile when I landed on your site and thought I'd get lucky.

Its quite frustrating! I've only had the Revvl a few months and am more and more disappointed with it!
It seems, so far, its only Revvl users who notate this problem....

I don't know if anyone still needs this answer. But it just started happening to me today and after searching so much, I found the solution and had to share to help with anyone elses frustrations like mine. It's because of too many commas. I'm not sure if it has to do with certain phones but I seen 2 ppl say this on a different website and I tried it. I wrote one message with a whole bunch of random comments and sent it and it did the same thing everyone complained about, then I removed them all and sent the message and it didn't do it. Good luck everyone.

Omg, the comma guy was right!

For a year now I have been locked out of using androids inferior, broken text message system they slap onto my phones (that's right, 2 phones I have had this insane issue with!!!) I have manually went in and disconnected every possible location and tracking setting for every app at every level of my phone, full stop.
I have disconnected Google from any possible app to app communication. I have forced stopped, banned, and disallowed every option in every app that is available(had to turn coomies back on just to load this website which shows you the utter corruption and data theft even androids help services extort out of their customers, repulsive!) along with all the things these so called "Android specialists" and administrators have posted here, with zero success what's so ever. For the longest time I thought my privet messages were being censored by Android or T-Mobile as it would often occur when I would send long rants about communist china mirroring WW2 Germany. I was so convinced I was being censored that for months I altered the entire way I went about speaking in private messages. Now having been able to send a text larger than one sentence for the first time in a YEAR I have finally regained some semblance of security in my privet conversations. This fundamental flaw in the android sms code is insane. How is it that this clear, service breaking flaw in your companies code has persisted for years? Your app is utterly useless if you can not use commas. Literally stealing your customers sense of security with the sheer momentous amounts of incompetent code work. I simply can not express the level of dissatisfaction I have with your inferior service. You need to pin the comma solution at the very top of this entire thing with a warning saying "This is the solution,we suck at coding, you can't use more than one comma on our incompetent service sorry" or whatever because I had to read through all those replies to get to the last and final one that actually worked. Imagine how many people scrolled through and didn't get to that last one, so it's incompetent coding AND incompetent UIX design(brilliant!) Bravo 👏 round of applause. I know this post will almost certainly be deleted because all companies will default to authoritarian measures first before any other reasonable solution if society so much as glances in another direction long enough for them to do it. Anyways yea, can't use commas on android, #coderfails

Where do you see the term "Android specialists"? We have Ambassadors, and we have regular members here, and we're all unpaid volunteers who have other day jobs. I'm a doctor, not an "Android specialist" (hey, I sound like Bones McCoy!). I will say I'm an Android enthusiast, and will try to do what I can to research issues for people with the resources available on the web. But we don't always have an answer.

Anyway, thanks for the input. It was very constructive.

hi.. I'm having the same issue and it's infuriating. There is NO Automatic preview option within the Messaging app, menu, settings OR the phone's advanced settings. I've looked everywhere. HOW DO WE GET RID OF THESE INTRUSIVE, INCONVENIENT GOOGLE MAP PINGS IN THE MIDDLE OF SENT TEXTS??!! PLEASE. ONCE AND FOR ALL.
There doesn't appear to be an option to attach a screenshot here, either. *♀️

Don't use commas... THAT'S THE SOLUTION?? Appear as if I have the grammar skills of a 6 yr old if I want to send texts without maps of the Atlantic Ocean smack in the middle of them... nice. That's not a solution, it's compromising for incompetence. I have no tolerance for incompetence where monopolies involved. Is this something that a mod can fix within the code?
