Why does my screen display spontaneously turns black then turns back to normal after a while?

My Redmi Note 7 was submerged in a pail of water so I had to dry it for a few days. I opened it and it worked great for a while but after a few hours, the screen went black. I had to wait for a couple of hours before it turns back to normal. After a few hours, the same thing happened again. What could possibly cause this? Is the LCD screen the problem?

Not too surprising -- likely the water damage has caught up with the device.

Is there anything I can do about it? I'm broke af and getting a new one is still not an option

Not really. Even if you bought a replacement screen and tried to install it yourself, there's no guarantee that'll fix it, since the water damage could be affecting some other connection or component.
