Here I thought it was just mine.. But we should also post the carrier.. Who knows.. Maybe it's carrier specific.. AT&T

I think there is some confusion here between shutter speed and the time it takes to take a picture.
I agree that in auto mode the camera favours a slow shutter speed over fast iso, which is frustrating when taking pictures of people or capturing fast action. However, manual mode remedies this.
As for the time it takes to take a picture, this varies depending on a few factors - the shutter speed selected and the focusing time. In good light the camera will focus quickly and have a fast shutter speed, so pictures will be taken almost instantly.
In low light where the camera may struggle to focus quickly, it may be better to use manual focus.
Alternatively in these situations you can shoot in 4k and extract 8mp stills from the footage later. A great feature of this phone is manual video mode, so you can select the shutter speed in advance. I find that shooting at around 1/125 shutter speed is enough to be able to extract crisp stills of slow moving objects from the 4k footage.

Yeah for me its all dependent on lighting conditions. In low light my V10 is slower than even my iPhone 5C or my wifes 6s+. Otherwise in brighter conditions I find it just as fast in either auto or simple mode.

I gave the camera a workout this past saturday and found that when you put it on "simple" mode it's super quick... just tap the screen and it snaps the picture... I was indoor (inside az cardinals stadium) and outdoors (bright, hot, az day/dusk) and it performed great under both conditions...

The resolutions comparable? Or are the megapixel specs lower on the iPhones? Lot more data at the higher megapixels.

Use the MANUAL MODE set to the fastest shutter speed with the least amount of noise from higher ISO.. I thought this to till I realized the camera locks in the picture before it actually snaps the photo.. It must be buffering the photo because even with the noticeable lag the fast action shots have zero blur

The lag isn't an issue in manual mode but it's frustrating in auto mode.. Blurry action shots..

In auto mine takes a second or two every time to focus before the shutter goes.

Mine too. I previously had an HTC and a Samsung, both were more responsive then the LG V10, which sucks as the camera is amazing. auto is so slow..!

Old thread but if HDR is on in Auto mode, there will be lag between shots. Turn HDR off and it speeds up.
