Why glass?

Glass doesn't always = premium feel!
Even if it did always equal premium feel, it's not worth the huge trade-offs in durability.

A plastic back can look like glass, as shown in many of the newer low end and mid range devices.

Also, it makes the device lighter.

Either way, it's rare to find a phone that has very flat edges, a flat display and a rubbery/textured back like the BB KEY2 or Motion.

What my Note 10+'s back is glass???
I thought it was a soft and hard plastic. At least that is what my case is. And that is what I see when I look at my phone.

Right but the point is that you basically HAVE to slap a case on it.

And that phone is big enough by itself!

In any case, it hides the design of an expensive $1000+ flagship with a $10-20 case.

And the design of that phone is gorgeous. I'd get a clear case for that one!

Yes. They do even after Jobs passed away...

Set the bar for $1,500+ CAN phones. Suddenly, it seems like SAMSUNG, etc. realized they can charge that much for their phones.

Responsible for eliminating the 3.5MM Headphone Jack. I know moto was the first but seriously...

I'll even blame them for FPS scanners. I would be more forgiving if android can MATCH Apple's FaceID because that I love (over FPS).

So does Apple set the tone for the phone industry?

Lol...you might be right with the price , headphone jack possible them also ..haha
The iphone face unlock was done very well but I think the pixel is better except they need to fix eyes closed witch should be coming @bembol

But there is still not enough support for Android Face unlock. Although I have both enabled on my S10+ and both bitwarden and Amex give me the choice between FPS and face unlock when accessing their apps.

Yeah definitely , it will come unfortunately slowly.

I believe they do as well, but I also believe that they don't hold the monopoly on "cutting edge" tech. The phone business is neck-and-neck and no manufacturer can afford any missteps.

I'm seeing more and more people, use a art paint brush and paint, to paint over the camera lens facing them.
They don't want anybody being able to turn the camera on.
Meanwhile, I continue to hear everybody talk about face unlock.

I LOVE the beautiful back. And I always use a clear case! Now I'm wondering if there is something to peel off? 🤔

I don't know anyone who does that
