Why glass?

I think something like the Note 4's kind of leatherback is kind of the perfect balance. In fact, some premium and special edition models of some phones(like the Huawei Mates, RIP or the Oneplus special editions have a leather back.) And now the Oppo Find X2 also has a leather back and many reviews seem happy or intrigued by it. Hopefully, if they go with more leatherback(or they could even go with like a carbon fiber-ish back like the Pocophone F1), they bring back the removable batteries.:)

I agree -- I've always liked that leather or pleather back.

I enjoyed the LG G4's leather back and was happy to see OPPO offer a leather option for the FindX 2. I'm not sure, but I think one disadvantage to leather is that the back may not allow for wireless charging (which I hardly use BTW). If they made more devices with leather, like the HP Spectre Folio, I would be all over it. I would also stop buying skins to slap on the back for grip (I don't use cases on my phones)

I'm very happy with my S10 Lite with a plastic back. It makes the phone light and thin, and it is not breakable. I have really missed the plastic back ever since leaving the Galaxy S2, so glad to have it back. Hoping they'll bring back the changeable battery as well...

I love leather back phones...and they support wireless charging and can have removable battery like the LG G4 had
I wish samsung gave us the options to buy glass back or leather back phones....
I liked how Huawei had leather back phones options with their Mate 30 pro

Would be nice to see real carbon fiber shell, frame and back on a phone. Or maybe I dont understand something and it's not doable

I just noticed this yesterday when I took my cover off. Phone works fine.
Make cellphones out of stuff that don't break on the back.
Jeez.
WHY do people want these fragile backs?
Who buys a 1K phone because it has a sexy backside?
It's not a date.
I totally understand how you feel OP.

The glass back on smartphones is probably the worst trend, right next to curved displays and lack of headphone jacks.

I'm typing this on my KEY2 that has a rubbery back but materials like this are virtually nowhere to be found.

Budget sub $300 phones can have plastic backs but then you lose out on features.

Glass backs is a weird trend when you think about it. I first got hooked on that when I got my Honor 8... But I was always afraid of something happening to it. It's a catch-22. And oftentimes, not worth it when the phone is so expensive and would be expensive to repair.

My Pixel 2 felt awesome and did not have a glass back... Glass doesn't always = premium feel!
