Why is everyone dissing the pixel 6/6pro?

My complaints have been resolved, after the January update. I will probably get the next Note or Fold, however, I'm happy right here and right now with my P6P.
Yeah looks like January security update going get people loving their pixels again, the phone was released couple months ago and most didn't get it until December so we had was one or 2 update since and they had a bug which they stop the rollout so from here on out we should be good.

For all the negatives it is the camera that keeps me coming back. I picked up an open box S20 at the weekend, same camera hardware as the S21 but with expandable storage etc. It is a really nice phone but 3 days in and the hit rate on photos is terrible, mostly pictures of my newish dog indoors and the S20 is smudging the hell out of them.

Coming to the conclusion that there is just not a droid that ticks all of my boxes but the Pixel is probably still the closest to doing so. A Pixel 5 with more storage would probably do me and I do wish I could get the standard Pixel 6 with 256gb in the UK so even with it's heft the 6 pro is probably still the best option.

This is exactly why I cannot get myself to use Samsung devices ... I have had the same issues with pics of my dogs. And like you said, the "success rate" with Samsung pictures is significantly lower than what I experience with Pixel devices.
There's things I prefer that Pixels offer and there's things I really like that Samsung offers I wish my Pixels had ... But at the end of the day I prefer a camera I can trust to get amazing shots 99% of the time, so I will stick with Pixels for the time being.

I put my SIM back in my S21 Ultra yesterday after being on the Pixel 6 for a few weeks. It's hard with the Ultra to get pictures of my 2 year old without it coming out a blurry mess. I love the hardware and I even like Samsung version of Android, but that camera compared to my Pixel is night at day.

I also alternate between my S21 Ultra and P6P. And yes, the S21 Ultra takes smudgy pictures of my cats indoors. I wish someday, some manufacturer will make a phone that takes great still pictures, great video, has a great screen with good stereo speakers and a quad dac for audio. So, I use 3 phones, the P6P for photos, the S21 Ultra for video and watching multimedia such as YouTube, Netflix, etc. and my LG V40 for lossless music files and streaming. Maybe someday...

If all the tech youtubers focussed on every day photos rather than outdoor portraits or how sharp a building looks from 5 miles away with the zoom lens then there is no reason for them to. Personally I do not the obsession with zooms, standard plus a 2-3x zoom for portraits is perfect for me, could not give a **** how sharp that building is when shot from the other side of the Hudson!

iPhone and Pixel are head and shoulders the best phone cameras for every day use IMO

That is my experiences with the camera on the S21U. I get a lot of blurry pictures if anything is moving. The shutter speed is just a tad slow on Samsung phones.

I don't have a Samsung...yet, and do not have a Pixel 6; and I will admit the photos that I see being produced on the P6 series phones are fantastic, I have also reviewed 50 some pages on the S21 photos and see a large number of very good child, dog and even some squirrel photos that are in focus and as good as the photos taken with the P6 phones.

Granted people are only going to post the good photos, but that is true for both phones S21 and P6.

I have a 4XL and have said it takes good photos, especially for the older sensors and would most likely agree that the main function I see on the P6 phones is the camara array and the processing google is known for. But there is a lot more to the PHONE than the cameras on the back.

I absolutely love the pixel 6 now and that's coming from someone who heavily criticized the phone mainly o because of the fingerprint sensor. Thankfully it had gotten better and is now usable whereas before I had to use smart lock. The updates have made it better and for $599 this is a great deal. Can't speak about the 6 pro but the 6 is worth every penny. I won't get rid of it when I get the S22 Ultra.

Fingerprint sensor still sucks, that's compared to S20 FE. I've given time for Google to fix the problem, latest update still leaves it slow and not as reliable as the S20. Also seems after the latest update battery life is not as good. I'm considering going back to S20 as fingerprint sensor just frustrates me.

Yeah the fingerprint sensor will never be as good as the S20 or S21 etc....but for me personally it has finally become usable.

This is what led to me finally leaving Samsung for Pixel. Missed out on so many good shots of my kids. Pixel is a million times better in that respect.
