Why is everyone dissing the pixel 6/6pro?

My problem with the Pixel has always been pricing. IMO they're nowhere near Apple and Samsung. I even thought OnePlus gave more effort, the 7 Pro is in my Top Five phones of all-time!

The Pixel definitely got lucky with how obsessed people are with the cameras and being "pure" android as a result Google didn't bother trying, continue to charge premium and that's why I dislike Pixel so much. As I said, having LAUNCHERS is what defines android for me.

They fooled me once with the first Pixel only because of my addiction but I learned and pretty much dismissed every release until the 6, where IMO Google finally got it right.

I love my Pro.

Geez, I’m in Australia and have no connection problems. I’m sorry to hear about your guys issues.

Customers and consumers are more likely to post negative reviews or feedback, so that could be why we are seeing a lot of that. And it's a new OS, so any bugs or hiccups are bound to cause some talk. But it's a great device line, and I'm glad you're enjoying it!

i'm switching to a samsung S21. i've been alternating for a month between pixel 6 and iphone 13 pro. i can't hang with ios. but i did love the size of that phone. and the samsung has camera features my pixel doesn't (manual settings). my pixel has been a wee bit buggy*, but i consider that the cost of doing android.

*no problems with fingerprint scanner

In the Your Mileage May Vary camp... I upgraded from a T-Mobile purchased Pixel 4a 5G to a T-Mobile purchased P6 Pro. My cell signal is INFINITELY better on the P6 Pro than it was on the 4a 5G here in the DFW metroplex. I was consistently having to go into the network settings and downgrade my connection from 5G to LTE because it couldn't hold a consistent 5G signal. I no longer have to do that.

No problem with this phone at all. Came from a Pixel 5 and that phone was good, the 6 pro (for me) is definitely an improvement.

It's obvious to me and many others on the Google Support Forum, other Android sites and here that the problem with this phone is a combo of the weak modem and lackluster software. Having had the phone for two months, EVERY place where I've visited, the cell reception is MUCH WEAKER than on my previous phones and even on my GF's iPhone 11 Pro. The Mobile Network Standby and Idle drains are horrendous, 5G and other features continue to be disabled. GOOGLE ADVANCED SUPPORT has personally traded with me two dozen emails and they REFUSE to admit any problems with these devices. The modems need to be changed to A BETTER ALTERNATIVE and the underlying firmware needs to address the issues. If Google can't or won't do this, then they need to step up and do a recall of those who want their money back. This is my first Pixel after being on Android since the beginning and I went in full line and sinker... and this phone, while working, is handicapped big time. Yes, there are those who have no problems. However, there are MANY from all over who say the same, documented thing... THIS PHONE IS A HANDICAPPED pseudo flagship! Anyone who has asked me about the phone, I've told them to... STAY AWAY! Finally, this is a cell phone for me, not a replacement for a land line to be used only at home on Wifi. Good reception and decent battery life are very important. To have a 5000 capacity battery delivering the pittance of what it should be getting, is a GOOGLE EMBARRASSMENT. Caveat Emptor.
I have been emptoring for the last few weeks, reading all the glowing reviews, and now, the growing number of bad experiences. I'll give it another month or so, and if it seems like Google is still treating the Pixel 6 problems like Vaporware, I'll pick up a Samsung. It's hard to believe SUCH a difference in experiences from people who are totally happy and LOVE their Pixels, and those who are having so many, dealbreaking problems. Could Google's Quality Control be that bad??

I would say yes their QA is that bad. I'm kind of in the middle of having issues. I have a lot of UI glitches that are adding up to being annoying, but maybe not deal breaking.

Still don't have the Dec update. That's worrisome considering this is Google's phone, they designed it, built it, programmed the software. You are telling me they can't push out a monthly update without killing people's phones? Even if they came out and said hey there's a problem we're working on it. That would go a long way. Instead...... Radio silence.

I get random launcher freezing, where I have to lock the phone, and unlock it to fix. The screen just becomes unresponsive, and only way to fix it is to lock it. It happens maybe once or twice a week. Most of my other issues might be app related. Messages bubbled conversions not loading in fully. However I think that's because of the stupid Gboard issue where sometimes it just doesn't pop up. Pics in messages not working until you exit the conservation and go back in. It's a bit of a mess.

I feel like whoever did the QA for this phone, did it over like a drunken weekend or something, and just said everything is fine. This is the buggiest Google phone I've ever used personally.

Some of these problems with the Pixel 6 phones are related to Android 12 I believe. Samsung just announced another December update to fix problems with their Android 12 (one ui 4.0) update. But might be hard to distinguish what problems are due to what update...Android OS, security and fixes updates...etc.

A bit off topic but I'm curious what app or apps you are using on your phone to manage stock prices.

My broker is Interactive Brokers. I use Interactive Brokers Trader Workstation on my Windows 11 PC. I use IBKR Mobile on my Pixel 6 Pro.

I trade stocks on both my windows 11 PC and my Google pixel 6 Pro. If I didn't trust my Pixel 6 Pro, believe me I would not be using it to trade significant amounts of money.

Yeah, there were some horrible bugs when Android 12 hit the S21 series.

But I've always said, it's not about the issues you have, it's about how you deal with them. Samsung are pushing out fixes while Google are standing around with their thumb in their... Mouth.

Oh ok was just curious. I have to use our own investment firm's solutions as we are required to maintain any personal brokerage accounts with them.

Coming from Samsung S20 FE, the 6 really doesn't offer much more for being flagship and a year newer technology. The one thing that really falls short, and I'd say sucks, is the fingerprint reader. And why no facial recognition is just unexcusable.
I traded in my S20 FE for a Pixel 6. The camera is a marked improvement.

To be fair to googlr, I'm sure google software engineering was involved in those Samsung updates since it involve their base software operating system; Android 12. The two have to work together to hopefully get it right. And they are probably working together to get the software bugs out of the Samsung hardware used on the P6 series.

My thoughts on the P6 is the google/Samsung software teams may be having problems getting the software to work correctly the one year old designed Samsung modem (S5123 Exynos). Have to wonder did they have to use that older modem since it was used on the Exynos 2100 chip in all countries but the USA and a newer X60 Qualcomm could not be used? I don't know. But I'm not the only one asking that question on the internet.

But to be fair, the Tensor is a newly designed chip even if it is based on an older designed Exynos chip. So startup problems will be expected. But it does appear as more phones get out there, more complaints are coming forth. (Learned a long time ago, never to purchase a first year vehicle, that may hold true with phones. Although my 4XL has been great.)

Maybe google did me a favor by screwing up two different orders. I am now looking forward to more info on the S22 Ultra (or Note...whatever they end up calling it). However, I will wait till some actual user reviews come forth with the real usage by the real people; not some youtube reviewers that are good only for features.

But, I am also waiting to see if the Jan security/update does the trick for the Pixel 6 series. I still like the looks, but looks are not as important as function.

Here's a reason for said diss. Unless this is human error (meaning me), how is it possible to access YouTube videos from the drop down menu, without having the picture in display? This was not any issue with my Samsung Notes, however, while using the Pixel 6 "Pro", the YouTube audio continues to play without the ability to pause or play from the drop down menu.

I use quotations marks around 'Pro' because I feel like a beta tester. If that is what being a pro is, then so be it.

If you have to explain why you're using quotations, you're doing it wrong .

Regarding your issue, I'm sure your user case is different but I fail to see why this is relevant. If you're listening to music then controls are available on the lock screen if you have background play. I'm sure you have your reasons for wanting this feature and I'm just not getting it. Sorry for your trouble. I can't find a setting to make this feature available.
