Why is everyone dissing the pixel 6/6pro?

If you have to explain why you're using quotations, you're doing it wrong .

Regarding your issue, I'm sure your user case is different but I fail to see why this is relevant. If you're listening to music then controls are available on the lock screen if you have background play. I'm sure you have your reasons for wanting this feature and I'm just not getting it. Sorry for your trouble. I can't find a setting to make this feature available.

If you're not providing critical info besides your personal opinion: " I fail to see why this is relevant," then you should probably keep your opinions to yourself. I hope I used the quotation correctly in this moment.

Regarding my original post, there is no YouTube control, on off screen, or the pull down menu when disabling the picture in picture function. When I disabled the picture in picture feature on Samsung devices I was still able to control whatever YouTube content that was playing from the pull down menu or the off screen menu. That is not an option with my P6 "Pro" ( ;)). The content continues to play and I have to go into the actual YouTube app to control it.

It's a public forum. I'll speak my opinion when I see fit. I guess I was hoping to see why this feature was so important to you. Sorry I rubbed you the wrong way.

Perhaps Google thought they could replace premium hardware with AI

I remember when night sight was released and Samsung users were side-loading the camera apk's even though we had way better hardware..

I believe 12 is the problem or the majority of the problem with the phone. I have had BT issues more than anything but recently the device does not always turn the screen off. Put the phone down and 10 minutes later screen is still lit. I have to hit the power button to turn it off.

[Just a friendly reminder here , everyone can have their opinion just keep it civil and respect theirs]

Some apps have options to never turn the screen OFF.

I've yet to diss it but as someone who dislikes stock Android I'm sure I'd complain if I bought one 😂

Personally haven't seen many complaints besides some signal issues and Android 12 bugs.

I'm very happy with my Pixel 6. Seems to be on public forums and social media that there is a disproportionate percentage of those that are unhappy that post and skew the results negatively.

Sorry to bring out the truth, but the pixel does have some “reported” problems. Granted some are BS, but so are some of those ravings by people who say they have never had one problem. It’s just the nature of people. Some will complain, some will not admit to purchasing a bad product.

However, the early reviews by magazines, professional reviewers wanting to up their youtube numbers are primarily good for one thing; to see the features of the phone since and what they look like. The real reviews are those from actual customers who are actual users of the product. And the longer the product is used the more problems that will possibly arise.

With a phone some of the information is dependent upon where they are being used. As I noted earlier, if in a large metro area with provider towers everywhere, cell signal reception is not usually an issue; however, on the outskirts of service, where provider towers can be counted on one hand cell signal reception is a big deal; thus the modem and in some cases the phone’s antennas and antenna placement can be very important.
This information has been gleaned over a few week period; however, I gathered these links in less than 20 minutes. And there are more; however, I am not here to argue only to state the obvious, some people are having problems with their Pixel 6 phones.

Whether all these problems are just one on with certain phones or more across the entire line are not really noted at this time. However, some of these problem have to be across the line or else Google would not be noting them in patches that have dropped or are forthcoming.

I hope Google can fix these problems via software patches; however, I would not place any bets on that outcome. If they do, I will be more than happy to try another order; possibly, by then it will be an order via Amazon or other retailer vs. the actual Google store.

“The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are great phones, each achieving four stars in our reviews, but they’ve also suffered from a surprising number of problems, with users reporting all sorts of issues with the devices.”

Many of the bad on this review are actually related to Android 12; not necessarily the Pixel phone.

Battery life. Not one thing I look at personally; however, it is a review on battery life. In my opinion, battery life is all about how “you” use a phone. The 4XL was noted to have bad battery life in reviews; for me, that has never been true. However, it is a bad review of the battery on the Pixel 6 pro.

“Google’s otherwise excellent Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones have been marred with weird bugs lately. Specifically, the December update for the duo has introduced a plethora of bugs and the company is having a hard time fixing those. Users have reported various sorts of problems including connectivity issues, ghost dialing, and more. And while we wait for a fix for those problems, another issue has surfaced recently. Several Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users are reporting that features like auto-rotate and automatic horizontal photography are broken on their phones.”

“While Google pushed an update to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro earlier this month, not all of the bugs were fixed. One of these is the network connectivity issue that persists even to this day. In response, Google is now getting in touch with some Pixel 6 owners regarding a possible fix for this bug through “Carrier settings” on the device.” IF THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH CONNECTIVITY, GOOGLE WOULD NOT HAVE TO RESEARCH THE BUG IN CONNECTIVITY.

“Users have been reporting screen cracks on the two devices for a while now. The reports go back a couple of months, and they can be found on both Reddit and Google’s support forum, reports Android Police.

Truth be said, the Google Pixel 6 Pro is mentioned more often than its sibling. Its display seems to be affected by this issue way more. It has a curved display, by the way, in case you’re out of the loop.”

“Google is still relatively quiet about the issues with the December Pixel update for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. While some of the older bugs have been fixed with the recent update, some still exist or may have even gotten worse. Google is now acknowledging that something may be off by disabling the Call Screening and Hold For Me features on the two new flagships.”

Yes, people tend to ***** on the internet vs. praise. However, as the item becomes more available and more people start to use it will naturally have more problems and more complaints.

And people use their device differently than others, and people live in different geographical areas; thus the problems with connectivity.

And as noted in this post, this website is not the only place where this phone's bad and good are being discussed. (Although, not to act like a a** kisser, I will say this is probably the best of all the Android websites...just not the only one.)

Some of these problems with the Pixel 6 phones are related to Android 12 I believe. Samsung just announced another December update to fix problems with their Android 12 (one ui 4.0) update. But might be hard to distinguish what problems are due to what update...Android OS, security and fixes updates...etc.

I find it surprising that of all the older model pixels that have got Android 12, starting with the 3 line, 3a line, 4 line, 4a line, 5 line, and 5a line, that reports of problems have been minimal... but the 6 line which was designed to run 12 out of the box, could be having so many problems that are Android 12 related. I have to wonder if there's also some hardware issues with the brand new custom designed chipsets and related components.

I upgraded from a fold 3 to the pixel 6 and love it and have no regrets in the upgrade the pixel is so fast and snappy not like my fold (which I did like) I havnt had any issues with my pixel either, my last pixel 4xl had no issues either.

Why is everyone hating on the pixel?
All the reviews and YouTube reviewers love it as well as me

No one is hating it, this discussion is necessary for all the devices cause they all have issues, and these discussions help to solve them.

That is odd. My 4xl runs 12 smoother than my 6pro. That's a 2 year old phone. I have some similar bugs/UI glitches, but I have way more problems with my 6pro.

I would say yes their QA is that bad. I'm kind of in the middle of having issues. I have a lot of UI glitches that are adding up to being annoying, but maybe not deal breaking.

Still don't have the Dec update. That's worrisome considering this is Google's phone, they designed it, built it, programmed the software. You are telling me they can't push out a monthly update without killing people's phones? Even if they came out and said hey there's a problem we're working on it. That would go a long way. Instead...... Radio silence.

I get random launcher freezing, where I have to lock the phone, and unlock it to fix. The screen just becomes unresponsive, and only way to fix it is to lock it. It happens maybe once or twice a week. Most of my other issues might be app related. Messages bubbled conversions not loading in fully. However I think that's because of the stupid Gboard issue where sometimes it just doesn't pop up. Pics in messages not working until you exit the conservation and go back in. It's a bit of a mess.

I feel like whoever did the QA for this phone, did it over like a drunken weekend or something, and just said everything is fine. This is the buggiest Google phone I've ever used personally.

Totally agree, this IS Google's baby, and they own every glitch, and the LEAST they could do is announce they are having problems but to please be patient and that the fix is coming shortly. When they DO get things squared away, it will be an amazing phone.

Perhaps the development team is off for the holidays and will continue working on the update starting next year. Definitely not a good reflection on Google's end for their very "first" flagship devices. Fortunately for me everything currently works fine so I'm not in a rush. Let's hope they give us some extras to make up for it, like face unlock on both devices. ;)

In the Your Mileage May Vary camp... I upgraded from a T-Mobile purchased Pixel 4a 5G to a T-Mobile purchased P6 Pro. My cell signal is INFINITELY better on the P6 Pro than it was on the 4a 5G here in the DFW metroplex. I was consistently having to go into the network settings and downgrade my connection from 5G to LTE because it couldn't hold a consistent 5G signal. I no longer have to do that.

Not sure if a good comparison but I live at the edge of the countryside near Ann Arbor. With my Pixel 2 on Google Fi, I rarely if ever got a cell signal at home. Now on my 6 Pro I consistently have a cell signal at home. At my local CVS I used to complain, no phone service or public wifi in the store to pull up their app in the store. I was just there the other day and could actually use my Pixel 6 Pro in the store.

Maybe the Pixel 2 was just bad and the 6 is closer to normal.

Also, wifi at home on the 2 would top out at around 40 mbps while the pixel 6 has speed tests in the 300 - 400 mbps range.

Other than the in screen fingerprint sensor and no monthly pixel updates I am happy.

howdy all for the ones with T-Mobile how has the pixel 6 been for you ?
T-Mobile here. My experience has been pretty great actually. Shipped my phone quickly and received it a day before the expected date. And, my Pixel 6 has been a fantastic experience.
