droid turbo shutting down showing 70+% battery remaining???

The last few weeks my droid turbo has been acting up. The first time it shut down it showed 28% battery remaining, second time 33%, then again yesterday it shut down showing 73% then again showing 78%.
today it shut down again showing 78%.
I plug it in for ten minutes after each shutdown and it will work again and show that the batter level went up while charging.
It's getting really annoying!! Anyone else experience this or know a fix?

You say plug in so I am inclined to think this is your charging method. But just to cover bases do you wireless charge at all?

Also have you done a cache wipe? Not the full factory reset wipe but a cache wipe? Maybe the update did something weird.

If others offer quick fixes that do not work you may have to bite the bullet, back up the phone, and then go full factory reset. If it still continues you have serious issues then. But hopefully a cache wipe or someone else's suggestion works.

I had to factory wipe for another completely different issue and it sucked to redo everything so I do recommend that be a last gasp resort. At least it worked for me, but it may or may not for you.

Look at the battery page in Settings/General/Battery. Tap the graph to get to the second page. Is there a drop to 0, then a quick charge back to where it was? If so, the battery has a dendrite and has to be replaced. (Good luck even if it's under warranty - some stores do know about the problem [it's endemic to lithium batteries in general, not to any particular battery or phone - see Lithium Battery Dendrite links], but most of them consider a battery a consumable and will only replace it free during the first 2 weeks [because you can still return the phone if they don't].)

That's a confusing perspective. I would think that a sealed, non-user-replaceable battery that is clearly defective would be covered under Verizon's one-year warranty. I could have a three week old phone that was pretty close to non-functional and Verizon would say "tough"? As nasty as VzW's customer service rep is, that seems like a pretty damaging attitude.

I'm nearly 100% certain that Verizon and Motorola treat battery failures within the one year warranty as a valid warranty replacement issue.

Mine is doing the same thing. I wiped the cache and it hasn't helped I will probably end up doing a factory wipe. This all happened after I updated. 5.1 was working great until this last update 7/25ish

This is what it looks like it goes down to like 35 and then turns off and shows the empty battery. Once I plug it in and shoots to 35 really quickly. The first time it did it stayed on 100% for like an hour so I knew something was up. Then after I cleared cache it seemed to drain normally untill bam dead
