Why is my fingerprint scanner nonresponsive on the first touch after taking out of my pocket?

I just got a G5 after I couldn't live with the camera on the Moto Z Play. The fingerprint scanner works OK except for right when I take it out of my pocket. It won't read the initial touch, but usually reads the next. It's kind of annoying. Is this just a normal delay or can I do something? I've tried rescanning my prints several times at all angles and turned my screen on option back on since I read that could affect it, but still no luck.

Also, a little tip. If you're having problems with the scanner recognizing your print in general, scan the same finger in your system a few times to give the system a bigger picture of your print.

The FP is probably unresponsive because they have a proximity sensor to avoid "pocket dialing".

I experience the same with my V20 and did notice the same. Now I just wait a half second longer before trying to unlock the phone.

I have a V20 too, same kind of issue.

Check that and try it if you have the same result, the second screen also turn off.
