When I first got the Samsung Galaxy S3 it came preloaded with Android 4.1.1. It was not laggy at all. When I upgraded to 4.1.2, it became intolerably laggy and I could not revert back to 4.1.1 since I had not made a back up. I then dumped Android for a custom ROM for not making sure that the 4.1.2 upgrade was also optimized for my phone. To suggest that Apple products are inherently faster than Android devices over the course of their lives is in accurate. As new upgrades begin to be available for Apple products, they also lag. In fact, Apple is well known for slowing down the performance of their older products when you upgrade. If you root your Android device there are plenty of guides out there on how to get rid of or disable bloatware and optimize your phone.
U have to be kidding right? Rooting is not something normal users do. I'll guess 90% of users don't do anything to their phone except load apps and just use it which is why apples dumbed down simple OS sells so well and people love it. And u cannot compare the speed of a rooted device to a stock apple device. I have an iPhone 4s and iPhone 5 laying around my house that are both smoother and more fluid than either my s5 or my gf note 3. Compare the iPhone 5 to any android that came out 2 years ago and I'll bet it will be the same story.
