Why is my Samsung J7 keyboard not popping up?

[Android Central Question]

I restarted my phone because i thought it was a simple glitch, but now my phone refuses to unlock because my keyboard isn't showing up when it asks for my password. I've tried everything, from clearing the cache partition to going into safe mode, I just want to avoid wiping the data on there because it isn't backed up.

How did you restart the phone? Did you use the power button, or have you tried holding the volume down and power button until the phone reboots itself. Can you get the phone into Safe Mode?

Welcome to Android Central! Try connecting a basic USB keyboard using an OTG adapter to at least get past the lockscreen. If you can do that, then you can go to Settings>Apps​ and see if your keyboard app got disabled somehow.

Try logging into Samsung remotely with your account if you set-up in the device otherwise sounds like a factory reset.
