Why is my screen not responding to the OS?

I've recently changed the battery in my SM-T530 S4 tablet. Since then, although the screen responds to touch (sounds and live wallpaper response) the icons, swipe to unlock and swipe to go to other pages has stopped working properly, if at all. Also the keyboard has become hyper sensitive, double and sometimes triple strikes for a single touch, all keys including the delete (X) I've opened it up again to check the ribbon cable connections and done the obligatory factory reset to no avail. Normally I'd say the digitiser was broken but it responds to touch, just not to OS touch prompts. Ihave noticed there seems to be a dead zone at the very top of the screen (maybe 1/2") so is there a possibility the screen positioning has shifted? Help!

Who changed the battery?

Hi Mustang, I did. I've done work on phones and XBox' before and followed best practice. Thats not to say I haven't "caught" something...
Hi , husky
Yeah I'm like that myself and mess something up along the way lol it happens :)
I'm thinking something didn't go right but you can try safe mode if you hadn't , see what happens.
