Why is the Asus Transformer so laggy

I really like android but man is this tablet laggy. I am coming from an original iPad that was not nearly this laggy. Opening a web page is soooo slow and I get lag and other glitches in the OS constantly. This thing has a quad core processor and it still lags on a web page? I guess this has to be software related but is Google planning on improving the performance on tablets or am I stuck waiting 15 seconds before I can scroll the page. I am new to android and just want to have a good experience with an otherwise niceOS. I just wish it didnt lag constantly.

I haven't any lag whatsoever mine has run flawless out of box. You should probably do a factory reset and start from scratch.

CI called Asus and they had me do a data wipe. It has seemed to help but I want to give it more time before I make a final decision. I had a problem with my case where the tablet thought my case was my finger and would star randomly doing screen presses, very weird. Sometimes I wish I would have gotten the new iPad instead because it performs so much better but I really like android. I hope Asus or Google can fix these issues.

my first 300 had this problem and it only got worse...return it right away....amazon switched mine out no question asked (as they always do)...but def exchange it...its a hardware issue.

Try using the Google Chrome browser, found on the Google Play Store. From my experience, its faster than the stock browser but it doesn't support Flash.

There is one area where the Tegra-3 Quad-Core excel, games. The Tegra-3 allows games to look just a little better than iPad. I'm not saying base a decision for the tablet on that one point. The iPad shines in its own way for sure. I just wanted to point out that the iPad gets beat in the graphics department. Now game selection is another matter.

I did noticed some lag compared to my phone.

But I rooted, flashed a custom ROM, and now this thing flys!

There is a little lag here and there....check out browse2ram app. It helped tremendously in the browser...before the app it was almost unusable...now...not bad at all.

It is all in the 5th companion core...and once we get jelly bean, all issues should disappear.

I have found that once you get it and then immediately do a system reset it will get rid of the lag.

Sorry I should have specified...its an app by a developer over at XDA I believe and requires root access.

I was experiencing a good bit of lag as well. I found it surprising that my dual core galaxy tab performed better than this quad core. Then I got the OTA jelly bean this morning and it is running smooth!

I've always had this problem and wish it wasn't too late so I could return the tablet. If it wasn't for the lag, I'd absolutely love this. As jmunster said, I just upgraded to Jelly Bean and it seems fine so far. Praying that the update fixed whatever was causing the lag.

We are getting the Jelly Bean upgrade. Just came out today.

So before you do anything that people have suggested and I would have suggested.

Yes, Asus knows about the issue.c The problem is mostly due to using bad I/O drivers.

I had been using the ATP Tool that replaces the driver and boy did that help. Very easy tool to use but you would need to root.

Please be aware that unlocked and rooted are two different things.

Unlocking VOIDS you warranty but rooting does not.

So be careful when doing any solutions so you do not unintentionally unlock. Once you unlock Asus knows about, your serial number is recorded. And even if you go back to stock, its too late. Warranty voided. So no software help and more importantly no hardware help.

So always consider unlocking. Not all Android manufacturers have such a harsh policy.

I also purchased a Nexus 7 to see the difference and boy does the Nexus 7 fly out of the box. And the Nexus 7 is running Jelly Bean.

Everyone is in the process of doing the benchmarks to see if the lag issues are resolved. So far it looks like it fixes the majority of speed issues.

I should state when upgrading it will require updating apps and it does the updating automatically for most apps but it starts the updates upon startup. So that means don't touch for 10 minutes after coming up from the upgrade the first time.

It will be very laggy because its just doing so much that first time. After all of that is over it should be running fine.

And if it ends up still being laggy the developers over at XDA will come up with solutions fast.

Welcome to Android and its unrestricted access. No more walled garden. No more censored data. And apps you just cannot get from Apple's billions of apps. Things like 'Vee' check that out for free movies. And lets not mention Flash. And for some porno (not for me).

My brother is an Apple fanboy. So he believes his data is not censored even when I try to tell him to try to purchase a few particular books.
