Why is the battery life on my Note 4 low?

Re: Battery life on Note 4

Really ...so what's the fix for this? Does turning all game notifications off help? I don't want to Uninstall it, but I always don't want to continue eating my battery alive.

I do notice since I typed that, and lowering my location search from very accurate to the middle setting, that it seems like it's doing better already. I'm now at 48%, and my usage has been much heavier from 59% to 47% than from 100 to 60.

I came across this thread, been having similar issues with my Note 4 battery life. I'm on AT&T and Android System is always taking 20-30% of the battery on any given charge. Best screen time I got was a little over 3 hours.

Also, showing that the phone is awake a lot longer than the screen is on. Even when the screen IS on, I can watch the battery percentage easily drop 1% every minute or two.

I even tried a factory reset, and just added my Google account to the phone - turned off Wi-Fi scanning, location services reporting, bluetooth, and GPS, same issues.

I bought Note 4 few days ago and immediately noticed the same issue. I tried everything but no good

I think you need to use note 4 for some time to judge the battery...i switched off buit-in apps like google+ etc. and look what I have with brightness auto +2 wi fi turned on and normal use...45% after 1day and 4 hours

Someone has to help me with this, google OS/kernel are eating up 65% of my battery, while sitting on my desk. It's down to 40% and I'm not even using it. I've literally turned off every fancy setting on this phone, and it's still terrible. I deleted every active widget except weather and the stupid s-health, to no avail. Others seem like the main drain is their screens, but I'm not even using mine (screen used 18% of battery) It's literally gotten so bad I carry my old iPhone in my pocket to actually do things I want to do so I don't completely kill my battery. I bought this phone explicitly for the battery life, so I literally couldn't be any more disappointed

I saw someone say that exchange was needlessly syncing in the background all day, so I completely deleted exchange accounts and no change. Saw another user indicate renaming the "my documents" or "mobile documents" folder fixed his issue. Did the same, nothing.

I'm at my wits end here, I'm literally about to take this piece of junk back. I've been trying for two weeks to remedy this problem and it's only getting worse. Seems like other ATT users have the same problem, is it related to the carrier?

I had that wrong, the stats are much worse. android system used 48%, android os used 19% (67% combined), and my screen accounts for just 6%. Something has to be seriously wrong, anybody able to help?

Get GSAM app. It'll help you find what's doing that. You don't necessarily need to turn off everything. You need to find the one or two that are eating up all the power. There are lots of reasons but often it's one app doing something like constantly trying to update a document that doesn't need it or keeping the phone awake or cranking for a signal when it shouldn't etc. The fix seems always to be easy once you find it. Finding it is the hard part.

My battery life is terrible. Exynos version.

Right now I have 29 minutes of screen on time and the battery is already at 70%. I can't figure out what is spending so much battery.
After the screen, what is spending energy is "Android System", "Android OS", "Battery standby" and "Inactive device". I can't figure out which application is spending so much. And the phone gets a bit hot when it's in my pocket doing nothing.

I haven't installed many applications, in fact I even uninstalled a lot of the ones that came with it. Please halp, how can I find out what is spending my battery?

Re: Battery life on Note 4

Not sure if this has already been mentioned but on my S4 I Unselected the option in wifi settings to allow Google wifi scanning at all times even while wifi is turned off. It was eating my battery every night. Battery improved dramatically when I switched it off. Turned it off on my Note 4 now too.

Where do you have your screen brightness set?

Re: Battery life on Note 4

Always have my screen brightness on auto

Maybe try keeping it on manual for a day or two. Adjust it down until it's just bright enough to read indoors. For me, that is usually 10-20% (almost all the way to the left). I have found auto will increase CPU usage, as well as adjust the brightness more than necessary for me.

I can't claim that it is the problem, but it might help.

Trying this right now, I'm at 59% with 1h 20 minutes of on screen time... why is this so horrible?

Try what I said in post number 151. Right next to what you said here.
