Why won't my HTC One M8 recognize the sd card?

htc one m8 wont recognize sd card

Im having some problems with my sd card i tried to put in a 64g instead of my 16gb which it wkuldnt recognize.. after a while i gave up and decided i would put my old one back in (16gb) and it wouldnt recognize that one either. Any help on this?

Welcome to Android Central! When you removed the 16 GB card, did you unmount it first (in Settings>Storage)? Removing a card without unmounting it is like removing an SD card from your computer's card reader without Ejecting it first in Windows--it can corrupt the card if it was in the middle of writing.

Insert the 16 GB card into your computer's card reader--is it detected? If so, run chkdsk to look for bad sectors: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...guide-using-chkdsk-fix-corrupted-sd-card.html

Have you tried turning off the phone and back on?
Anytime i remove my card i make sure the phone is off (and i have fastboot unchecked / disabled). Once the phone is off i take the card out and hook it to my computer and back it up, then put it back in my phone and turn the phone back on.
I never remove the card with the phone on.

After you do what B. Diddy suggests take a look at this. I just upgraded to 64 gb after Christmas and this worked for me. Good Luck.
