Why won't my nexus 6p allow access to some applications

[AC Question]

I recently downloaded a few games and apps off the playstore.. When prompted to allow access (example access to my photos and videos) I couldn't even click on allow but if I click deny there wasn't a problem.. Unfortunately for a GPS based game I need to allow the app access to my location which it wouldn't let me.. Help please.. And thank you

Looks like it might be related to a screen overlay from what turns out to be a somewhat-malicious app.

A similar question was answered by @Odd1ne. I can confirm that File Manager (Cheetah Mobile) causes this. Yup, seems crazy, but that was the culprit for me. Thanks Odd1ne!

Cheetah Mobile, that's the problem. I avoid apps from them at any cost.
